Another Employee Issue
I just love sharing this crap with ya'll.
New guy, 31 years old started yesterday. Makes $35K. Called and left me a VM today saying he had a family tragedy and cant make it in. Knows that it is his 2nd day but it can t be avoided. This is where it gets good. This "tragedy" is that his dog of 5 years died. Said his "whole family is at the house mourning and making the arrangements". Arrangements? You need your "whole family" to stuff a dead dog in a plastic bag and sling it in a dumpster? I called him and explained that our company bereavement policy does not cover F$%King dogs. I also told him that he was to report for work at the normal time or not at all…ever. Had this been a 15 year old family pet I may have been a little more understanding but Christ! A dog of 5 years??? GET YOUR ASZZ TO WORK!!!!   So my question is this. Should I paint my sons go kart black or red? I am thinking Black so it will match my Black Heart! :D Oh, and before you loosers who are gonna call me an A hole and an animal hater... FO! I love dogs...when their flat! (refrences on old post you may or may not get...JK anyway. I like animals) |
Re: Another Employee Issue
Always liked black go karts.

Re: Another Employee Issue

Re: Another Employee Issue
Black. Yeah........Definitely black is a good color.:jump:
James, Fire that fruitcake before it's too late. I have a 30 year old Cockatiel bird who's been with me since I was 9 years old(He was 2 years old already before we adopted him.). He gets the full honors burial when he dies. But I'll still be going to work. He'd want that.:giggling: My dog is still in the 3 year probationary no mourning period. |
Re: Another Employee Issue
I dunno about black... Satan would drive a red go-kart...
:jump: |
Re: Another Employee Issue
James.........Your an *******, just fire him..........:beerchug:
why even ask? |
Re: Another Employee Issue
Paint it black, tie a stuffed dog to the back of it and ride by his house.:)
|
Re: Another Employee Issue
Have him come to work to pick up his $hit. THan run him over with your black go Kart.
|
Re: Another Employee Issue
damn, you sure do have lots of issues with your employees. Do they all really suck this bad, or are you just a ****ty boss and even worse at hiring someone worth a damn?
|
Re: Another Employee Issue

Re: Another Employee Issue
cut your loss now and let him go.
Black is the color And your a D*&K :jump: |
Re: Another Employee Issue
Do you have or had a dog?
If it's true give him a break. How a person treats his family and pets tells alot about someone. I would say that after one day on the job the family and dog would come first. If he doesn't show up the next work day, can his ass. |

That would just make to much sense. James would rather come here and ****ing whine about them behind their back and try to recieve some cool points from his Elcova pack. |
Re: Another Employee Issue
Your mixing it in with a new job? I took a day off for my dog of 16 years. I also had to go to work the day before and after my dad died. You gotta eat. Some bosses and jobs don't care.

Sounds like the guy just wanted an extra day off with the holiday being tomorrow.
Glad to hear he wiped his tears away and actually came in. Is he able to work, or is he too emotional to get any work done?? :twak: |

And you should thank your lucky stars that your not an employer in CA, because the guy would sue you so fast it would make your head spin. He's probably jacking you anyway, and at a 4th of July BBQ

No you didn't whine....your correct.....:beerchug: I have learned something. I've learned that your a **** head. Your policy is your companies policy, and that is fine to do what you did. But where dyou draw the line as a owner of your company, and as a professional that is more than likely highly regarded by the people you have chosen to work for you? I have worked for very large corporations, and I've worked for many small companies. The one thing that is constant in any good work environment, is a Owner/Boss you can trust. That doesn't just mean with **** the Boss picks and chooses is private. It means trusting that when something happens (I.E family tragegy of any sort) your Boss/Owner isn't out on some ****ing internet forum making jokes about it. One thing a good Owner/Boss/Manager wouldn't tolerate, is exactly what you go out and do. I remember a LONG TIME EMPLOYEE OF YOURS TRUSTED YOU ENOUGH TO ASK YOU IF HE COULD GET AN ADVANCE ON HIS CHECK. Now you must be a fairly small company if you are the owner and have employees asking you directly for an advance. Ok, back to the subject...What really amazed me was that, here is this guy that has worked for you for a LONG time needing some help. You go ahead and help him out...................but no, it doesn't stop there. Instead of keeping YOUR EMPLOYEES personal **** private, you come out on to some 4x4 Forum and start posting negatively about him................:( ....weak. Maybe that's not exactly how the story goes, but I'm sure it's close. But shouldn't you be keeping that **** private?...............JMO And I dont care if he worked for you for 2 god damn hours. You hired him, you must of trusted him enough to work for you, trust the god damn guy when he tells you it's a FAMILY TRAGEDY and move on. Say what you have to say to him, tell him if he doesn't come in he is fired, but as the owner of a company, why not try to keep your employees personal life away from the forums.................. .....that's what I dont grasp. |
Re: Another Employee Issue
It's a Hummer thing... you wouldn't understand.

No? One of my main bosses has an H3. I am 100% confident that any professional matter we discuss is not splattered all over the Elcova forums, or any forum for that matter.:beerchug: |

Re: Another Employee Issue
James don't worry, Moonie beats up old people so he is just as bad.:shhh:
|
Re: Another Employee Issue
I nver thought of this until reading Moonie's post. Maybe the family (ie younger kids) are traumitized by this. Maybe he stayed home for part of the day so he could comfort his kids...providing closure for them.
Some kids (and adults) cannot cope with a death. |
Re: Another Employee Issue

No kids. As he tells it, the dog was his kid...what ever the F&*k that's all about. I never got that whole...our dogs are or kids thing...their fricking dogs. Oh sorry, fogot you Moonpuppy...no doubt their are many dogs in your life. |
Re: Another Employee Issue
If had a boss, and he pulled that. I would bring dead pooch to work and drag around the office like Linus and his security blanket and say "I just needed little more time" over and over and over again. James you would let me go home, and if you fired me I would sue for discrimination, and the live off of disability for awhile till my lawsuit against you was finalized. Then ask for my job back:giggling:
