I washed the H2 for the first time this weekend.
What a pain. This thing has allot of areas that are hard to get at and hold water. I also detailed the engine compartment. Drove it around the block and it still dripped for and hour. Don't get me wrong I enjoy washing my vehicles. I'm just going to learn all the little areas that require more attention.
Anybody else wash there H2, themselves or do you have it done?

Ive only washed mine once and it took a good while...the rest of the time i let the valet guy at my office complex do it....i figure if i let him clean it often it wont get bad enough for him to miss the small things i would clean myself had i washed it.

I would not think about trying to do it myself. Too much time involved and time is money

Wash and spray wax (between normal waxings) in about 45 minutes. It goes quick once you get the hang of it.

Oh, and skip the roof.

I tend to wash my vehicles myself. I started using the Mr Clean system recently and the spot free rinse works great. The drying is the worst part of washing a vehicle anyway.

Jeeze, I think the SUT is quicker for me to wash than my motorcycle was. Even my wifes Mazda 6.

Personally I take lots of pride when washing my ride and I do it by hand. I use wax about 3 times a summer.

Zano bros is what I use, and then I even use their clay bar from time to time to rid the paint of acid rain, and whatever else could be stuck to it.

I agree with Dan. About 45 mins with washing and spray wax. When I do a wash with a regular wax job it takes about 1 1/2 hours.

I wash my H2 myself. It takes me about 2 hours to wash it and dry it. i normally don't use soap except for extra dirty parts (like from squashed bugs), and I always dry it with a chamois. Also, use a 4 ft. stepladder to reach the middle of the roof.

Bought myself one of those extra soft brushes for the H2. Cut down washing time quite a bit.

I wash my Hummer by hand. For drying I use a California Water Blade, which takes all the water off fast.

The only problem is when I get it dirty and wet, I do it right. Then it's time to take it to the dealer for the $90 special. Top to bottom, inside and out.

Proof.

They didn't do as good a job this last time. They missed the rear end and suspension. Phil, the best service tech out there, told me to bring the truck back and they'd fix it. I love those guys at Hall HUMMER.

I use to wash it my self, but we were told by the LT. that the inmates can wash it inside and out for $5.00. I can guard them, or there will be other guards there if I am busy. I havent tried this yet but I will.

Definitely wash mine myself weekly. Noone can ever seem to do as good of a job as I would do.

I have to believe that would be like letting those little fund-raising teenagers wash it, where the wash cloth/sponge goes straight from the wheels/tires to the paint, with a few drops onto the pavement in between for good measure. Not to mention not hosing it down well before washing, to get all the grit off.

No offense intended, but I honestly don't understand this. Outside of maybe just personal preference, what good is not driving in the rain doing? I mean, it's not like you are preserving the paint job/undercarriage of some expensive exotic, nor preserving the value of your truck. So, is it just personal preference, or am I missing something?

Well, this owner of a black H2 just has his detailed once a week. And at the end of the day, it's worth no less than theirs, and looks just as clean. This ain't no exotic, it's a fricking truck (with a sh|tty paint job from the get-go).

I've washed mine by hand twice. The second time was only because I forgot how d*** long it took to wash it the first time. I've taken it to the local do-it-yourself places, but it usually ends up taking a few bucks to wash anyways. Now, I just take it to the local car wash and for $6 bucks get it washed and dried...then drive over to the vacuums and vacuum out for free....
Of course...It usually takes me a week or two following a stint off-road before I wash it....figure...why wash if it's just going to get dirty over the weekend again?

Oh, yeah, and I'm 1/16th Indian.

I always wash my own cars and like all have mentioned, it takes hours just to wash it. That's why i have yet to wax it and it's 3 years old Kudos to HUMMER for excellent paint job because my paint still looks as good as it did 3 years ago

Btw, for those of you that haven't invest in one of those pressure washer, get it! It takes half the time, uses a lot less water, and does much better job. I also have a water softener at home so much less water spots. The only thing that worries me is the salt the softener uses

Morning dew is bad too. You go to bed and the truck looks great. Wake up and it looks like crap.

Thus, the garage is the safest place for black H2's.
