Potash railroad-bootlegger cyn .

i took a little hike to explore the bootlegger tunnel on the potash railroad .
its the cane creek branch of the Denver & Rio Grande . it runs from crescent junction to the potash mine at the bottom of the potash road , passing thru a 7,068 foot tunnel called bootlegger tunnel that begins near arches national park and emerges in bootlegger cyn. nearly a mile and a half away . |

nav and i thought about it , the closest i could get to the tunnel was about 2 miles away . i wanted to just pull up on the tracks and go for it , but was afraid of gettin busted . since its private property i figured it was better to be on foot if i got caught . its close to the gold bar boat launch so there are a few people around too . if anyone is up for a serious outlaw run we could go for it :jump: the train only runs on friday , so any other day would be safe . if i had seen some other tire tracks i would of probably tried it , i wimped out :twak: . |
