Help plz
I am thinking of selling my beautiful 06 reg range rover sport, and was considering buying a hummer h2 or 3. Can you guys give me any reasons why i should opt for hummer, besides the size of the damn things :giggling:

B/c its simply a better vehicle;) |
Re: Help plz
I fail to see how though, the wife would love one, but i just can't see it beating the RRS for ride, comfort, refinement and the yearn factor. The interior of the hummers i have been in are far inferior to that of the sport.
Anyone else, no y i should buy one? |
Re: Help plz
I would suggest that you take an H2 and H3 for a test drive and see for yourself then make the decision on whether to stay with the rover or go with the Hummer.
They are two very different vehicles. I've not done the research, but it appears from looking at the exterior of each vehicle that the Hummer was designed to be more capable off road than the rover ie, approach angles etc. |
Re: Help plz
I had a 01 Range Rover years back. If you like a smaller suv than maybe the Hummer is not for you. I liked mine for the most part, but really enjoy the largers suv's. I had a Navigator as well and I liked it But the H2 by far trumps them all. I have a supercharged one with alot of extras. So maybe you need to look at customizing one to your liking. I for sure do not think that an h3 would satisfy you at all. That would be a pretty big downgrade. Go drive an H2 and them come back and ask some more questions.

Re: Help plz
kk, thanks for the advice, btw it was a H3 i was sat in, so i'll try and book a test drive for a H2 ASAP :dancingbanana:
|
Re: Help plz
the H2 is very different from the H3. As one might expect with a $20K+ price tag difference.
Being 6'4" tall I dont find the H3 as comfortable as the H2. Again, its a very personal decision based upon your likes and dislikes. The 08 H2 has signifigant improvements on the interior of the vehicle. I'd suggest that you look at a 2008 H2 and also the 07 H2's left on the lot to see which year you would like better if at all. |

You'd be suprised, take one for a test drive I love my husbands probably better than any vehicle he has ever owned :dancingbanana: ;) :dancingbanana: |
Re: Help plz
Good point. Check out the 08 H2. The interior is more refined. Plus you get a full 3rd seat as an option. I imagine that the 08 H2 will impress! I like mine because it is different than almost everything else. I was tired of driving a Navigator because you would see them everywhere. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Re: Help plz
The H2 is bigger, inside and out. It has better off roading dimensions (at a glance), however, the RRS fords 7inches deeper in water. All in all the two are very comparible.
http://www.hummer.com/#/AMERICAS/us/ http://www.landroverusa.com/us/en/Ve...t/Overview.htm I dunno, I hate to say it, but I like the RRS.:o :D But yeah, go test out the H2, it will be something you are more used to. |
Re: Help plz
Personally....I feel the Rover is more of an urban looking SUV where as the Hummer has a more rugged and tough look. Thats just an opinion of mine and also my wifes.
We checked out the rovers at the car show this year and ended up buying another H2 since we like them so much. I agree...a hummer gets more looks than most other vehicles on the road....mine gets looks from kids to the elderly and all ages in between. As the hummer slogan says...."Like Nothing Else" |
Re: Help plz
Different strokes for different folks. I guess with an H2 you either love it or you hate it. Take one for a drive and you should know the answer.

My Dad busted my stones for getting my first H2....then he took it for a ride and in about a month he bought his 06 SUT. He said its by far the nicest vehicle he's owned. Like you said...you either like'em or you don't. There is no in between. |
Re: Help plz
My old man was the same way. He expected them to be rough riding etc. After the first time he road in it, he changed his mind dramatically. You do have an advantage. You know the range rover inside and out. So you can easily compare it to the H2 with a test drive.

Compare to the Range Rover you won't be happy. Not to piss on H2's but there is a major difference. Only buy a H2, if you are a big kid and want to have tons of fun. You like pissing off the tree-huggers and so on. And when it really comes down to it......you want to be different and unique. I also have a Lexus LX470 and the ride is far more comfortable. But, I love my H2, love the way it looks, sounds and the attitude. |
Re: Help plz
I agree. The two really can't be compared because they are just that different. Either way you will be getting a fine auto that most would love to have.
best of luck |
Re: Help plz
Do you ever go or plan on going off road? If so, find a decent off road driver who owns an H2 and try to follow him through some difficult obstacles. This alone will convice you of which one you want. If you don't go off pavement, you can probably get either one and be happy.

Re: Help plz
I liked my Range, but I never did what I have done in my H2.

Re: Help plz
wow, thanks to you all for your advice, jus wondering if anyone on here had an RRS and changed it to the H2/3 or vice versa, would love to know what you think. :)

One other thing, don't think about a H3, especially if your use to the RR/RRS. You will not be happy at all....just stick with the H2 |

CP im so dissapointed in you!...The specs are not even close not to mention lockers, rock rails, 35in tires(vs 30in tires). A RRS following a H2 offroad = :owned:!!! If you prefer a more "refined" vehicle then perhaps the RRS is a better choice. However i think you will find the ride and drive of the H2 to be quite pleasant. |
Re: Help plz
I have owned many vehicles in my life to include a Lexus470. I have also test driven a RRS and have driven the H1 MANY times when I was a military man. Both the Lexus 470 and H1 were very capable off-road. I have not had a chance to take the RRS off-road (which I didnt think the dealership would like), but it just didn't give me the feeling that I was looking for! It's obviously a very nice vehicle that is a little more refined than my new 08' H2, but I prefer the more "testosterone" look/feel of the Hummer. That said, the RRS was a blast to drive.....but, again I felt that is was more of a grocery getter (which is ok for some people). And, doesn't the RR line of vehicles have a poor reliability rating? Anyway, I love my H2 and wouldnt trade it for the world!

I totally agree. I drove a Range Rover about 7 years ago. Liked it alot, but the hummer is way better. It's a UNIQUE ride. Frenzy Belgium (looooooots of Range Rovers over here and no hummers :jump: ) |
Re: Help plz
Had a range and mine did have some issues with the drivetrain, but that was an 01 model, I am in no way bashing the range, they do make a nice truck. I think that the 2 are totally different. Just buy both, drive the range to work and use the h2 on the weekends.

Re: Help plz
personally, after seeing them up close in the auto show, i will agree say that the H2, IMO, is better suited for me.
The interior is more refined in the RR, that is for sure, however, your a potentially purchasing a vehicle for its off-road prowness and fun factor... you will not get that for that RR. It has features that sell the idea of fun off-road, but i just cannot see one of the newer RR keeping up with a stock h2. I agree its more of a grocery getter and to keep the wife happy with the comfort. But, again, imo, if you are looking for fun, and a surprisingly comfortable, confident ride, get the H2. The h3, with all due respect, doesn't compare. |
Re: Help plz
Buy the H2 and tell your wife to go buy something that she wants. Thus, you will both be satisfied.

Wifey had an 03 Range Rover. It's a silky ride no doubt. But unless you're going to take it off road, I'd stick with thr Range Rover. The RR is definitely capable, but I couldn't see myself to risk scratching it. |

Re: Help plz
Do you carry a man purse or have your a55 waxed? If so stick with the RRS. If you could care less what the neighbors will say and consider yoursel an individual independant thinker, get the Hummer (its obviosly what you want deep down, its whether you have the sak to actually get one and keep it).
:clapping: I have to say, the RRS's are pretty darn capable, I've seen one in action and I couldnt belive what it could do on those "low Prof's". My friend just bought an LR3 and he will be taking it to tellico with us in two weeks. We shall see how it will do. He blow dries his hair just FYI. |

I like the RRS a bunch and am considering getting one in addition to my 03 H2. You ned to take the H2 for a 24 test drive to really get a feel for it, not just the weak ass test you get while at the dealer. -Matt |

Re: Help plz
For sure. If you can, try and meet us up there. Were leaving on that Friday evening. I am going to the land rover off roading happening with him on sunday so we will get to know his truck a little before Tellico. I'll report how that goes as well.

Re: Help plz
IM going to try to make it up there but we have adopted 6yr old twins and life has changed. From no kids to two 6 year olds really spins your life around. I might just come with my father again but well see.

Re: Help plz
i agree, if you have to think about buying an h2 then you probably shouldn't buy one. For me there was everything else and then there was the h2. I drove the others until I could afford to own an H2. Needless to say I am now in a better place. But where to go once you have reached the top? oh yeah the 08

Re: Help plz
I think the last few people really put it into perspective.
You seem :lame: - Do us a favor and buy the Rover.   |
Re: Help plz
Depreciation on the RR is TERRIBLE! Right up there with Caddys and Lincolns. The only way I could see owning a new RR would be to lease, it is just unbelievable how bad the RR's depreciate. The H2's to me are not nearly as bad. Keep us posted, as both are really neat vehicles!

Re: Help plz
tell me about it, got 26k out of my 03 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate with only 33k miles. do the math on that one, cost me about $1 per mile in depreciation. Went and bought me a 03 h2 for 31k with only 40k miles. I will be a heck of alot better off this time.
