Delta Lights

If anyone has installed the delta backup lights...I need a bit of help..conecting to wires....

Re: Delta Lights

OK, after spending most of the day trying to figure everything out.....I give up...time to seek help.

I've got the lights mount and wired up to the "light green" wire from trailer harness. After cutting the wires from the backup lights (two grey wires) and then reconecting them....now my backup lights and Delta lights aren't working....nothing......Check the fuses, nothing, checked the wiring, nothing.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestion??

Here are some pics..

Here's a suggestion. Try looking on Delta's web site under "INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS"

http://www.deltalights.com/deltaftp/Installation%20Instructions/Hummer%20H2%20Back%20Up%20Lights%20Installation%20 Instructions%20-%2011-17-05.pdf

Did you follow thier instructions? Still an issue?

Tex, you probably know by now that you shouldn't be cutting any wires, just tapping into them. My service manual shows the reverse light hot leads as being grey and the reverse ground leads as being grey and black. If you are tapped into a green as opposed to grey wire with the DeltaTechs, that is likely the problem. You need a test light or meter to determine where the factory back up bulbs are lacking in reverse (positive or ground). You may have dislodged a ground lead at the bulb or junction block. Before you tap into anything else, you must ascertain that you are hooking into the positive reverse lead (hence the test light.) Once you figure out what's missing (positive or ground) I can help you troubleshoot. When you go to test the factory reverse lamps, pull the bulbs out of the DeltaTechs or disconnect them from the system. They will only confound your testing and GM has a funky habit of pulling grounds through secondary filaments. Good luck!

I installed the Delta lights on my truck and as stated earlier, I used a test light with the truck in reverse. Found the correct wire with ease. Its snowing out now but I'll check tomorrow night what wire I spliced into.

Re: Delta Lights

Ok, I checked the wiring....everything is ok...but still no lights. And even now, it seems that my interior lights aren't working, except for front pass/driver door lights. I have power to the rear liner lights and center liner lights, but when I turn the dash dimmer switch to light up the whole interior, only the driver/pass door lights will be on....everything else seems to be working ...x2 checked the fuses...nothing...

I'm lost....looks like I need to hit the stealership.

everything is ok...What does that mean? If you have good positive and ground at the bulb and it's not lighting up, it's a bad bulb. But what you describe sounds like a fuse. Did you check all 3 fuse boxes? There is one by the driver's door(Instrument Panel Fuse Block), one under the dash (Center Instrument Panel Utility Block) and one under the hood (Underhood Fuse Block).

Re: Delta Lights

Be sure to check the one under the hood labled "TRL B/U" (center high, one from left edge). See pp. 6-63 & 6-64 in your owners manual to locate.

Re: Delta Lights

Tower: I checked the Trl Fuse...and everything that relates to the lights. All working. Checked the rear light socket for the backups(no power) Checked the fuse box in the door (all good) checked the fuse box located next to the brake pedal ( there were two fuses the three wires sockets)

Still don't have any interior lights when a door is opened or the dash switch on. Also the pass/ side park light is out...but the drivers side is working, and the checked the fuse, and it is also working....

Talk about really F__king things up.......the dealership is going to love my money....

thanks for all your help......:rant::rant:

Re: Delta Lights

I used a 7 pin trailer adaptor plug to connect my rear lights. This way, I didn't need to cut any factory wiring. Hope you can locate the problem.

Fixed...ya!

There were several blow fuses....not sure how that happen, and a bad ground for the delta lights.....but they are cool.....no doubt I'll see an ant while I'm backing up..

Thanks for all the help.....

Yeah....get to it........I love the way it looks and very bright at nights now...although I think I'm going to upgrade the factory backup lights bulbs..they sort of look yellow compared to the new ones..

Thanks again
