Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Looks good. Even better without the brush guard!
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Looks good, nice and clean! Put the brushguard back on. :excited:
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Do you have any more pics? Obviously since I got my white SUT, I was looking for different ideas.
Though I don't normally like a double brushguard, it looks really good on your SUT. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen 4 light bars on an SUT. More pics please. :perfect10s: |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Got tons of pics what else do you want to see?
I ordered a grill guard to put on the front. Looking for a new look... |

Any pics would be cool. I'm in the process of ordering a grille guard too. I installed a Warn winch and without a grille guard or brush guard, it looks kinda bare. I'm thinking a bodycolored grille guard would "fill in the gap" Mark |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
I ordered black. If I don't like it i'll put the brush guard back on. It has a big dent from hurricane Ike and a tree.
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
looks good, have you thought about painting the guard white to match the truck?
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
There is one around with the guard painted white the bumpers painted white, and the running boards and roof rack white. Looks to much like a mall queen. I still want and need it to look like and offroad rig!! :)

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
drmiles, are you going to keep the multimount winch for winching from the rear (assuming you ran wiring to the rear receiver)?
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
No, I have had the rear wired for 3 years and only used it once. Plan on getting rid of the warn after I am sure of the MM

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Or he could just give me his warn winch for the rear of my truck! lol
Welcome to the club on your new install! |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Looks good dr miles, Know if there is another texas hummer adventure up in Gilmer?
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
I sold my Warn multimount in preperation for the new BA winch bumper. I am now kicking myself after seeing the quality of the MM winch construction compared to the Warn I got rid of. I am also losing the ability to winch from the rear.
When you get stuck with no other vehicles around, winching from the rear will be needed about 50% of the time. I plan on rigging up something to allow me to winch from the rear using my front winch bumper. I am thinking to have roller fairlead up front and some standard fairleads underneath and flush mounted from front to rear. |

I've been agonizing for a couple of weeks whether or not to score one of those autostrata ebay Boulder winch bumpers, but I guess I'm going to pass. I'm thinking of putting those dollars into the Rubber Duck under body protection instead. |

Yeah so true I will be kicking myself, however I don't want to carry it around in the back all the time. The one time I take it out will be the time I need it. :grouphug: |

You guys get in bad situations too much. Plan your crossing or climb so that there is a tree to winch from. May have to go around a hole sometimes because your alone and have no idea where the bottom is.. I'll go with yall and pull you out if needed :beerchug: |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Doc,
I kinda gotta agree with you on that. lol. I remember talking to my dad last year about wanting a winch before I got mine. He said "Why do you need a winch?" I told him so I can go more places etc.... His response... "If you need a winch to get out of whatever you are doing while driving that H2, you probubly should not have been there in the first place" I took it as a compliment to the truck and word of wisdome lol. But I bought the Winch anyway!! lol |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Every time I get to thinking "this truck will go through anything" I need the winch
:clapping: |

Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Dude that is CRAZY!!!! I am terribly sorry for that loss. But look on the bright side. You have 2 things in common with your neighbor.
1. You both lost it all 2. You both still have your HUMMERS! lol |
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
Thanks, didn't notice the black hummer
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
heres a question... what are the electrical requirements for running a heavy duty winch ???? I mean do I have to upgrade my alternator or battery anything with the factory electrical system ???
|
Re: Boulder bumper and MM winch
For normal winching, ie stuck once or twice in a day with 20-30 minutes winching, with the motor running the stock system is enough.

It's best to have dual batteries with Battery Isolater or an upgraded alternator. The H2 has a pretty stout alternator to begin with. Rule of thumb is always leave engine running and if you dont have either of those, you should winch for a bit and stop so alternator can rechanrge battery. If not, there is a chance you can overload alternator and burn it up or kill battery or both. I think Summitup is ahead of the game with dual batteries. I just take the cautious approach and winch slow, pause and winch again. |
