Okay, so you can't make Moab. 5000 mile round trip too much, your dog has a rhinoplasty scheduled, desert air gives you hives...

Whatever...

Can't make Moab, try Paragon!

I've got some ideas on dates that could work, although the first set may be too soon. Here goes:

April 7-9. Arrive Thursday April 6th, wheel Friday and Saturday, depart Sunday the 9th

April 21-23. Arrive Thursday April 20th, wheel Friday and Saturday, depart Sunday the 23th

May May 26-30. Arrive Thursday May 25th, wheel Friday, Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday, depart Tuesday the 30th

So far we have several interested folks:

NJ H2
Ipedog
Ric-H0
yat74
Oldhiker
Marinehawk
HummerLite

If people want to do the April 7-9 trip we need to get organized soon so please vote for what you would like to join in on.

NJ H2 03-28-2006 12:34 PM

I'm tring to move some things around for April 21-23 but we can make May 26-30 for sure!

MarineHawk 03-28-2006 01:23 PM

I can't go during the April 7-9 dates because I have family in town. I'll try to make any other dates. Question: If I bring my wife and small son, are there any fun things they can do around there during trip if, as a I expect, they don't want to be banged around in the back of my H2 all day long?

KenP 03-28-2006 01:38 PM

I voted for the single May date. But that's just because we'll be in Moab.

Ipedog 03-28-2006 01:45 PM

MarineHawk - I'm not all that familiar with the area so other folk may have better info. Sorry.

There is the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA. Mapquest says that it is about 80 miles from Paragon.

I doubt that my wife and son will be joining me for the April trip. They will be along for the Memorial Day trip. I do think we will be visiting the Crayola Factory at some point on that trip. Should be fun.

As for wife and kid bouncing about in the truck... Well, I have been trying to convince my wife that there is lots more to it than that. I also understand that the kids do seem to have a good time on these trips, although portable DVD and Kipper is a must.

I hope that this helps.

Don't be too surprised. My wife, 5 yo and 10 mo daughters go with me on every trip.

IMO, kids love it, especially if there are other kids there.

For the May trip I'd love to see as many kids as possible. My guess is that they would really add to the fun.

Ipedog 03-28-2006 07:15 PM

So far it looks like 5 trucks minimum for April 21-23 and 4 trucks minimum for the Memorial day trip. I know of at least one H3 that hasn't voted yet but will be with us for the Memorial Day weekend trip.

So, all things considered it looks like we are a go for these two weekends.

I'll wait a day or so to see if anyone else wants to join in and then start up a PM.

I talked to the boss, and i think I will be able to go on the April 21 trip. She and my little guy might be up for the May trip. Is anyone thinking about camping during all or part of either the April or May trip? I am itching to get out my Moon-Base tent again.

Yeah Yeah Yeah. Some of us work during the day! My votes in. I'm there either way.

Tent + snow = no way </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You can make it quite toasty with a good heater.

I could get one of these: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link....=search-results1.jsp

But I like to mark my territory around the campsite.

I heart the Cabelas.

Joe 03-28-2006 09:48 PM

keep me posted. The late April and May dates look good though the April one looks to be close to a trip to Western PA.

KenP 03-28-2006 10:17 PM

Dennis, you and the others should drive out here. We could make it a week long event! Bring the CO gang, too, because they don't wheel in stuff like this.

DennisAJC 03-28-2006 10:32 PM

Probably similar to Westcoast wheelin. Slime covered rock. Takes some skeelz to wheel that stuff. Can't just point your wheels and gun it.

Boss & shortypants will not with me for the April weekend but will be for Memorial Day weekend.

Over Memorial Day weekend we will be staying in a hotel. I'm not going to make a first attempt at camping with a 3 year old over a long weekend. Way too much opportunity for disaster there!

As for April. Well, I'm not sure. I'm not as hardy a soul as you and can live without camping in the snow. I haven't done that since my Army days (and don't miss it ).

Average high for April in Hazelton PA is 54 and average low is 34. Thats a wee bit chilly. I'll probably be finding a hotel. We can discuss details in the PM.

Ipedog 03-29-2006 10:56 AM

It looks like we're up to a minimum of 7 trucks for each weekend, very cool

As I see it for April 21-23 we have:

Ipedog
MarineHawk
NJ H2
yat74
HummerLite
Oldhiker (maybe - probably )
Joe (maybe)

For May 26-30 we have:

Ipedog
HIHUMMER
KenP
MarineHawk
NJ H2
yat74
HummerLite
Oldhiker (maybe - probably )
DennisAJC (maybe )
Ric-H0 (maybe)
Joe (maybe)

Am I missing anyone? Have I screwed up your available dates?
If you want to be added to the PM please post your name and what dates you are in for.

Thanks guys!

BLH2 03-29-2006 12:14 PM

count me in For the May date. Would love to go on the April trip, but its my wifes B-day. You know how that goes... It would be great to have a Caravan of trucks driving out there. I am living from Monmouth County NJ, would love to meet up with some people on the way out.

BLH2 03-29-2006 12:15 PM

This would be my first Off Road trip, is this out of my league?

frank6150 03-29-2006 12:37 PM

Me = May.

Maybe that is. Being a roadside flower vendor and all that's my busy time. Plus I moonlight as an Arby's sandwich maker.

PARAGON 03-29-2006 12:40 PM

I intentionally left you off my list because I knew you would just back out of going at the last minute.

I fully intend on backing out. Then say I will go, then back out again.

That would be cool. I would make that trip up to Paragon.

Ipedog 03-29-2006 01:05 PM

Sorry CP, no offense intended. Let me update the list.

For May 26-30 we have:

Ipedog
HIHUMMER
H2Co-Pilot (in her monster H2 allowing KenP to do a ride along )
MarineHawk
NJ H2
yat74
HummerLite
BLH2
Frank6150 (probably will bail and then join and then bail again - looser! )
Oldhiker (maybe - probably )
DennisAJC (maybe )
Ric-H0 (maybe)
Joe (maybe)
PARAGON (? Maybe ?)
HummerNewbie (maybe - contingent on Dennis and the CO gang - that sounds like a 70's Disco band )

Have I missed anyone?

PARAGON 03-29-2006 01:09 PM

Frank, you're loose now? I always knew you were a loser, but a loose loser?????

CO Hummer 03-29-2006 01:18 PM

I'm in for now. I'll make another decision on 5/24.
