Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
You weren't kidding...that is pretty 'chromed out'...
|
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
Yeah it was a package deal that the original owners bought with the vehicle.
So far ive gotten the front windows tinted along with a strip along the windshield. I want to get some different wheels and tires too but dont know what would work well on it without having to lift it. I eventually want to powder coat all the chrome, do black wheels and the gobi SUT spare tire roof rack as well as the tonneau cover. Gonna take a while. |
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
wow....love the yellow, but ditch the chrome door strips. ive never liked those things. they look cheap.
|
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
So, I replaced the passenger side exhaust manifold due to a crack in it. Well, word to the wise. Prepare yourself for the frustration when trying to remove the dipstick tube. It broke in half and then broke off at the block when I tried to remove it. Invest in a torch, PB blast, a bolt extractor, and a bible.

Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
Haha..sorry for your troubles. Like the other guys said, ditch the chrome and start blacking! The yellow color was awesome, you could make this thing nastyyyy!

Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
Looks great. Love the yellow and chrome.
Wheels would take it up a notch. Seems like everyone on this board wants to "Black em Out" I think they look great with chrome on em. |
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
nothing wrong with chrome......as long as its not plastic stick on chrome....thats where i draw the line.

I agree... I can take a LOT of chrome, even chrome paint the whole car... but there's something about those chrome door stick ons... |
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
and the chrome humps by the windshield..... a bit much.
|
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
PLEASE move fast with powdercoating all of this. :crying: :crying:

Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
I guess some people like chrome...

Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
basically because its cheap nasty plastic chrome in places it doesnt belong.
|
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
I think this truck can be toned down a bit by removing some of the chrome pieces, however there is nothing wrong with chrome on a Hummer. I think the OP's truck is just fine if that's what he wants to make it his own.
I personally think lifting a Hummer with lift kits and huge ass tires any more than it already is is just as :notallthere: IMHO that is. :clapping: |

...but those huge ass tires will. :) |

My goodness. Everyone take it easy on this guy. He said he's gonna powdercoat and blacken it a little. Give the guy a little time as he asked in his third post. :twak:

Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
The chrome came on the truck like I said. Its a lot of extra cash that was invested to put it all on so I was reluctant to remove it all if you know what I mean. Its a head turner for sure, but a pain in the ass to clean. I get compliments all the time but here is what I want to do long term.
Duramax conversion (someday) sigh..... firefighter pay.... Powder coat all chrome. Lift and XD Rims, Toyo rubber Gobi spare tire rack on top Spare tire eliminator slant back truck bed cover ( outrageous price though) The inside is chromed out but I kinda like it. All handles, bezels, and what not are chrome, makes it look spiffy. Stock nav unit is jacked so Ill probably redo the whole sound system. Gonna need a second job or a wealthy donor. :( |

I would take off the pieces you didn't like and sell them! Your mod list sounds great btw..can't wait to see this thing transform!

Good luck finding one of those, the company either went out of business or stopped making them... Otherwise I would have one too. |

And everyone here knows your a Chromophob. Ok-get it shiny sparkly things make you uncomfortable. Can ya stop ****tin in other peoples threads. Chrome is in tha title ya know. Who knows maybe the op will "black it out" or lift it ,throw big tires on it, and never take it of blacktop. |
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
Actually, most of the chrome isnt stick on on mine. Every light on the thing has a heavy metal chrome piece, all the handles inside the cab are chrome metal. The only pieces that are plastic are the breather boxes, the pieces on the side mirrors, and the side pieces are metal but they are stuck on too.
Yeah, I noticed that the company quit making those slant backs, but I think Teakatoys still sells them but they are like 6k! That is redonkulous. Ill make one myself if I have to before I pay that kind of money for that. |
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
find a good fiberglasser. shouldnt be hard for someone to make.
|
Re: 2005 SUT Chromed out
Thats kinda what I thought as well. I just need to figure out how to attach it if I can make it.

I think he just meant it as a joke bro..if you wanna chrome it out, then by all means let it shine. We're just throwing our two cents in, and of course we'll tell him to de-chrome it. lol |

Yeah I was looking at the pics and most of the add-ons on your truck seem to be billet pieces (which are pretty expensive). You may could get a couple of bucks out of it should you choose to sell some of it. |
