Looks awsome Tim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bparker 09-17-2005 11:49 PM

As much as "I" generaly dont like roof racks; that one looks awesome. Good choice!

Ipedog 09-18-2005 12:05 AM

Very, very nice.

H3 Hummer 09-18-2005 12:05 AM

Very nice. Where did you get it?

Ipedog 09-18-2005 11:10 AM

Like I said last night, the Gobi rack is very nice and definately looks tailor made for the H3. At the same time, the Thule rack that H3 Hummer has also fits the personallity of the H3 really well. Its got a rough chiseled look to it while the Gobi looks like it was painstakingly carved.

Which looks better? I'm not sure yet.

how much additional wind noise is there with the rack? wondering if the Thule or one you have is better for highway speeds?????

C.

looks damn nice though

I don't even notice it up there. When the sunroof is open it is a little louder, but not by much. Also there is no wind at all that comes through the sunroof.

You'll find taht Tim has inside contacts at Gobi...

H3 Hummer 09-19-2005 02:58 PM

I don't notice any wind on my Thule rack but in my opinion it isn't half as nice as the Gobi. Than again it was only about $250.00. The Thule is a lot taller and I can barely I mean barely fit into my garage (less than an inch).

I think I am 82 inches with the Thule on top - so every time I go somewhere for underground parking I worry.

H3 Hummer 09-19-2005 03:00 PM

Maybe the Gobi is taller than I thought it was. Especially with those sweet lights up front.

HummBebe 09-19-2005 08:56 PM

I do not see crossbows. Can we have the rack and keep the crossbows?

the stealth rack sits at just about 80" on the off road package. You have to take off the crossbows to mount the rack. With the steel mesh for a floor and bars inside the rack, you can mount Yakima or THule stuff in there and climb up there and stand on it if you need to. I shoul dhave the ladder mounted in the next week or two. That will make getting up there a lot easier.

tacocat 09-19-2005 09:48 PM

Damn you. You have your rig spec'ed just as I would. Off-Road, Black trim, rock rails, sunroof, brush guard.

tacocat 09-19-2005 09:50 PM

BTW, how much of a bear is it to take it off, and how much does it weigh? I would remove it to thoroughly clean and wax the roof twice a year.

Two people can take it on and off, but once you wire the light in, it becomes more of a time issue. Once a year wax I think would be OK. I spray it every time I wash it an it seems to be OK. This is out third GOBI rack (3rd HUMMER with one on it) and no issues to date. The wax seeems to old up OK.

You can buy these through Jason on this site.

GOBI has set RETAIL prices for the H3 racks at $1499.00 plus shipping.

Low Profile or Full size are available with and without sunroof opening. Specific fairings are designated for marker roof lamps. Those that have the HUMMER off road lights would not use the fairing as the lights would sit up close enough to the rack.

Rear Ladder: Mounts on DR SD only. $299.00

No holes are drilled to mount the ladder.

Stainless is available too. Price TBD.

If you have specific Q's, you can always PM me.

this will be awesome with that rack

DeLeon 09-20-2005 01:37 AM

Thanks a lot for the info timgco... any chance a group discount would be available for H3 Source members?

Also, are the off-road lights included for that price?

Thanks!

Lights are not included. I put PIAA lights front and rear, but I know that DELTA will have some out soon that will fit for half the cost of the PIAA's. I'm not sure when they will be availble yet though.

Group Buy? You'll have to talk with Jason.
Jason has very competitive prices in his store.

HummerNewbie 09-20-2005 12:20 PM

Tim,

That looks great and thinks for all the info.

kacyk 09-21-2005 05:27 AM

Excellent Tim! I guess there's no rook-top tire carrier model?

A roof top tire carrier would be very cool, but then you've got the rear door vent to deal with.

See this post: Shaved...Vent

Any loss of reception? Any close up pictures of antenna area, and more pics of full size rack and closer on ladder. It does look great, maybe Santa will be good to me this year.

nmikes 01-30-2006 03:27 AM

hey timgco,

You should throw some pics on with the back ladder on the H3. Can't seem to find real good pics of that.
