Just sat through a lecture from a friend of mine who advised me that the H2 was an irresponsible purchase. His reasoning? How about this.
1. I would look like an ******* driving around in one. That I was trying to compensate for something.
2. Too much gas.
3. Not worth the money.
4. They are not built well.
5. Too big.

The great thing about this lecture was that it came from a staunchly liberal democrat(not suprising) who drives a Tahoe Z71(just perfect).

How about that load of crap?

Buckeye Hummer 09-18-2003 02:24 PM

It sounds like he's upset he bought the z71 right before the H2 came out. I'd be pissed too because now it's silly to buy one of those when you can buy a Hummer for a few K more.

Albie 09-18-2003 02:40 PM

just think of the things he gonna say when your chick looks better than his.....HEHHEHE
ITs ok there will always be envy at the top

DURAMAX TIM 09-18-2003 03:23 PM

Maybe he's afraid u'll take HIS chick.

And he'll never be able to get another as long as U have the H2.

So his only recourse is to buy one if u do.

Being a liberal is same as having sympathy for terrorists.

Check out the OkC Chapter Page!

argonaut 09-18-2003 04:27 PM

I'm pretty liberal but I have no sympathy for terrorists. Being liberal does not mean that I am a tree hugging hippie... Then again I am fiscally conservative, just socially liberal.

As for that douchebag in the Z71, just run circles around him offroad and laugh at all the looks you get when driving around. Oh wait, I bet he doesn't go offroad even though he has the offroad edition. What a poser...

Argo - what is Socially liberal? Never have understood what that meant. Always been all or nothing to me.

argonaut 09-19-2003 04:32 AM

You know, pro choice, pro gay rights, pro environment (not eco nazi style, of course... I drive an H2). Those are really the only issues I care about. I hate taxes, and hate huge government (funny thing that it keeps getting bigger with Bush... Hmm). For most social issues I tgend to be liberal, but when my pocketbook is concerned I get greedy and conservative. I don't like any social programs and have no sympathy for bums and people who don't work. If that doesn't confuse you, I don't know what will

Interesting to see the political views of HUMMER owners.

Me, I'm all for FREEDOM -- Civil Rights, Equal Rights, Civil Liberties, Free Speech, Free Association, Pro-Choice, Pro-Gun Rights, Pro-Privacy, Freedom of (or in my case /from/) Religion, Separation of Church & State, Equal (and minimal!) Taxation in exchange for Representation and a Strong Military.

Live Free or Die!

Unfortanately, I don't find many others who share my views. Every politician I see wants to take away my freedoms and rights.

SJ 09-19-2003 03:15 PM

Since we're on the topics:

1. Right to Bear Arms - like the forefathers intended.

2. Pro-Life/Anti-Baby Killing

3. Pro Traditional Family as the Judeo-Christian founders Intended; Gay Marriage is one more step in the wrong direction for our nation. Don't push your Sodomizing agenda into the mainstream/majority. You call it diveristy/equality and tolerance; I call these convenient labels for a license to perversion and the debasement of our nation.

4. Free-Market Economy with an American buying bias!

5. 100% Support for Coalition Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

6. Pro-environment, but not to the extreme of bankrupting ranchers, farmers, and loggers with absurd regulations that protect striped toads and nutes from the path of a plow.

Thank you : Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, UK, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Netherlands, Denmark, and others.

Dennis:

I heard the same report on the Savage Nation [Michael Savage Radio Show] yesterday. It seems the Liberals have taken a strangle-hold in the Great White North and they've passed a law that makes it illegal for religious leaders to criticize the homosexual "lifestyle."

It's the same as in the USA; we live in a free-speech society, but if you hold steadfast to "traditional" values, then you're labeled a bigot, intolerant, or phobic.

My relatives in Europe laugh, because they struggled to have freedom in their culture and now those very freedoms are being abused in the nations they've modeled themselves after - to punish the Catholics, Jews, and the traditional family that is fighting to retain the culture and "sense of morality."

We have to recognize that with each law that steps further from God's word; we debase our society gradually. Even a person of atheist or agnostic stature can appreciate this. I'm not into preaching to folks, but some of our legislators, judges, and lawyers, have certainly lost sight of right and wrong on issues that really don't have a gray area.

What you stand for --- you can ditto for me

Like I say to the "ProChoice" people "Does the baby have a choice?" to me it either pro-abortion or anti-abortion - call it like it is.

argonaut 09-19-2003 07:49 PM

Actually Ticket2ride, I feel pretty similar to you. Freedom is key. Everybody that is a citizen should have the right to choose what they want as long as it doesn't interfere with another person's rights. But what makes America so great is that we can have discussions like this and voice our opinions on how we feel and not be persecuted for them. Yeah we will have jabbing and arguments, but it is because we can do these things that our country is so great.

Tucson, I personally believ that once that baby can exist on its own without the motgher then it is a seperate being (ask some Jewish mothers and that would mean the kid would have to be 35 and married...lol) But I've never had to deal with an abortion and hopefully never will. A fun fact: I was adopted as a newborn from a 13 yr old mother... go figure... and I am still pro choice... odd.

WHEW,

Thank you S.J and Dan AJC,

It seems all is not lost in America, and Im not the only one listening to the Savage Nation. Oh if only people knew of what they spoke! Alot of eye's would be opened in this country regarding where our laws came from if only people would READ THE BIBLE. I get so anoyed with the people who say this country WAS not founded by Christians and set up God's laws old and new testament.

Say what you want and believe what you want but don't argue facts. And for those of you who think im wrong please do some reading in the book of Leviticus. Someone understood sickness and disease and how to avoid it long ago. Courts and wittnesses were established, Governing bodies, Laws of morality and so much more. Do you know why it is illegal to kill birds of prey? That's in there too.

Right and wrong are not a gray area to me.

I wonder if the pork thing had anything to do with trichinosis??? Not much of that going on anymore in this country. I think pork is safe these days.

DRTYFN 09-20-2003 07:44 PM

That's right- interpret it the way that suits your needs best. Looking for answers from a book of fables that's centuries old that's been reinterpreted over & over & over & over isn't the way I choose to go through life. Sorry, but imo organized religion is the manipulation of humanity's inherent nature to be superstitious and fearful of the unknown. It's basically just a way to control the masses.

Kevin B 09-20-2003 08:14 PM

DRTY,

It's funny, but when they found the dead sea scroll's it kinda pointed to the accurcy of the fables being reinterpreted over& over& over. At least they got those silly stories right from one century or millenium to another.

Anyway I doubt either of us will change the other's mind, but I don't mind being the "little dog in the car yapping his brains out" as long as we keep it factual.

argonaut 09-20-2003 08:16 PM

Religion is the ultimate control for the masses. What original message religions start out with, good and truthful or not, it is inevitably corrupted by the religion eventually in order to control the masses. Just look at the history of the catholic church. WTF happened in the middle ages....?

DRTYFN 09-20-2003 10:00 PM

Written word that's been retold over and over again? What do you think about Scientology? It was recently written and the author is known. He even said that he was going to make up a religion. Look at all of the people that have flocked to it. How do you know that your religion wasn't made up in a similiar fashion? Oh yeah, because it's the bible. I forgot, the bible is different. When you see a representation of jesus he's usually looking like a blue-eyed surfer. But in reality the people in that region at that time had broad flat noses, brown skin & dark curly afro type hair. That's a documented fact. But that doesn't go with what your religion has brainwashed you with, does it? The churches were clever enough to know that they needed to make their icon something palatable to the masses.
If your religion has changed the look of your savior to make him more attractive to you what else do you think they've changed? Why do you think the church refers to all of you as sheep or his flock? Because that's what you are- empty-headed sheep that follow blindly without thinking.

Like I've always said- If it works for you, great. Just don't push it on me or condemn me for not believing.

And Dennis, I told you that if I'm gonna go at least I'll rack up some upgrade points while I'm at it.

Brad 09-26-2003 10:21 AM

The bottom line is, Where is your soul going when you die?

Your 60, 70 or 80 years of life on earth is a short time compared to eternity.

Christians are not perfect just forgiven!!

SUTJim 09-26-2003 01:01 PM

DRTY,

Practice what you preach. You always belittle people for believing in the Bible. You always bring up corrupt religions that have miss-interpreted the Bible (At least you admit it is a miss-interpretation! You don't actually say this, but you imply it.

I'm not going to put you down because you don't believe. So practice what you preach and quit preaching to us about religions.

BTW, your part of a flock too. It's just that your sheppard is leading you to a cliff and you don't even see it coming.

Jim,
You just keep on believing in what makes the night less scary for you.
I always love how religious nuts have to tell those that don't choose to believe in their mumbo-jumbo that they're on the way to a hot place. What a load of crap.
You pray to a vengeful and jealous god. That's in the bible and it comes from "god" himself. Doesn't that sound like someone trying to scare someone and keep them under control? Why do you have free will?
And didn't christ die for everybody? Does god forgive everybody or just christians? Does that make all of the other religions wrong?

Besides, look what's waiting for me(supposedly).
