Just got this in today and rushed right over to get it installed. It took a pro about 1 1/2 hours and it was a very clean install. No exposed wires. The camera is mounted where the center rear red running light goes. It can be set up to stay on all of the time or only when its in reverse. Bought it from www.trailduty.com THANKS PHIL!!!

You think you could make the pics a little smaller next time please, one of my eyes exploded from strain and I wanna even out the look.

JamesT 04-05-2004 10:35 PM

Sorry...I'll repost them when I am at my office in the a.m. In the mean time...

I'm not real up to date on this stuff, would it be possible to run the HCam off the monitor below? It is the Farenheit T-7015HB. I think I could mount it nicely to the dash, only downside is it has one input.

Then again I could always get a better monitor and just use a bracket like this one. Sometimes I type before I think.

RIC-H0 04-06-2004 12:43 AM

Careful James, there are 2 suspicious looking guys sneaking behind your H2. I would shoot first, then ask questions from thier relatives.

Nice camera setup...Now you won't run over the shopping carts, or the ocassional mall barrier.

With his lift, I wonder what he's going to back into in the first place!!! You'd just end up running OVER most things, James!

I have the same camera set up but my monitor is in the rearview mirror (5" - 2 input w/speaker) so you can run the cam thru any monitor. Here is my rearview monitor. By the way it looks great, not to big for the H2. It actually looks better than the small OEM mirror. It looks like it fit's perfect!

Stacy...very true BUT I enjoy the looks on the cats faces as I SQUISH them. It is also to watch the expresions on peoples faces as I back toward them.

NJ, is that monitor bright enough? Does it automatically turn on when u put to Reverse? That attaches onto the existing mirror right? Thanks for info!

MMPH2 04-06-2004 05:03 PM

Sweet set-up. I'm getting my camera installed on Thursday, but I went with the Vizualogic display (more factory looking to me).

If I could get a Vizualogic display for mine, I'm sure you can run the camera into any display you'd like.

Thanks for the pics...now I'm even more anxious to get mine!!!

belezeebub 04-06-2004 05:57 PM

Ok you talked me into it I'll add a back up camera to my list.

Spike 04-06-2004 06:31 PM

That thing looks great for filming outdoor porn. Just back up to the picnic blanket and yell action!!

MMPH2 04-06-2004 06:38 PM

Nice Spike...really nice.

I was driving today (bright sunshine) with sunglasses on, and I had no problem viewing it at all.
It turns on automatically when put in reverse and it does attach to the OEM mirror. The sound is much better than I thought it would be.
Here is some tech info:
SAVV MIRROR

JMV1210 04-06-2004 10:49 PM

Nj H2 do you mind, How much was the mirror? Also, I don’t see the temp or direction, did you lose that feature?
Joe

H2Finally 04-06-2004 11:25 PM

NJ, when I was considering the SAVV, I want to take a dremel, cut-off the plastic & grind-off the silver (from mirror to clear glass), right where the stock temp/compass display is. Do you thinks this is possible? Or does the monitor's circuit board overlaps that area? Imho, yours look better than stock too!

Don`t dremel the silvering off. You`ll end up with an etched square. Try using a single-sided blade to scratch off the silvering and not scratch the clear glass.

I was going to buy that rearview mirror set-up but I didn`t want to lose the temp feature.

Yes, you can't see the temp and direction since the Savv mirror covers it up. It's still there you just can't see it. It was $425.00

I don't know if you could do that. Personally, I wouldn't since you could ruin the Savv, or at least it's value if you ever sell it.
I don't care about the direction because I have the NAV in the mirror but I can say I do miss the temp but the good way outways the temp.

H2Finally 04-07-2004 03:21 AM

NJ, after install, I doubt I'd ever remove it to sell seperately from H2. My concern was if the lcd board covers the area in front of the temp/compass. The temp is useless, but the compass is important to me, & it would suck if I need to get a stick-on compass for my cool H2!!

Dennis, the dremel was for the plastic casing. I was thinking of using a buffing wheel & chemicals to remove the silver (masking area).
