TootsSUT 01-24-2006 06:18 AM

I'll take more tomorrow with the new additions!!

Just ordered tie rods, tie rod install kit, tire repair kit and will be ordering the shields tomorrow from Phil!! This is so much fun!!

rodster 01-24-2006 06:26 AM

It's purty!

What are the two switches between the 12V outlets?

TootsSUT 01-24-2006 06:40 AM

Still trying to figure that out!! I was going to ask you!!

rodster 01-24-2006 06:56 AM

Dunno. The left one is on so maybe turn it off and see what happens? Maybe the DVD installer added them and they're tied to the entertainment system?

Where did you move Onstar?

HIHUMMER 01-24-2006 12:17 PM

Congrats!! Keep the progress pics coming!

Ipedog 01-24-2006 12:51 PM

Congratulations on the new SUT!

Frank2005 01-24-2006 12:56 PM

Congratulations Toots! Welcome to the "SUT" Club!

Thanks everyone for the comments!!

So far I've discovered that the left switch is for changing the NAV screen over to DVD. The right switch is still a mystery!

And Phil, you are right about the stock tires. They do look a bit, well, small.

The Onstar was put in the glove box.

I'll take more pics today with my floppy ears attached!

DDWH 01-24-2006 03:25 PM

I like where they put the blondestar! How did they mount it? can you get an angle for a pic?

TootsSUT 01-24-2006 04:17 PM

I'll take complete interior shots so you can see how everything was rearranged. I'm not certain if I can capture shots of the rewiring but I'll try!

Hey Phil!! What's wrong with cherry chapstick?

timgco 01-24-2006 05:13 PM

I wonder if the other switch is so that you can use the DVD player while driving?

Racer-X 01-24-2006 05:34 PM

Congrats Toots. Nice rig. I've always thought the black is one of the best looking colors. Just wouldn't want to wash it every two days.

It's true. I've noticed it on other SUT rigs as well. Why do the stock tires look smaller on the SUT??? Some weird optical illusion or what?

I like that OnStar install! Very nice.

I recently had the OnStar box out. Wow, is it so empty that the guts will fit in the glove box space or does Toots' glove box have only the switches and the guts are stashed elsewhere?

Sean -- Can't say that I ever noticed the diff between trucks with 35s but now that you mention it, I have to agree. That is strange.

Rodster,

The guts are stashed elsewhere. There is no sign of them in the glove box. It was very nicely done!

There are also professionaly installed wires running everywhere in this vehicle. I bought it used but with only 18,000 miles on it.

I was told the previous owner had more money than god and installed everything you can possibly imagine but never took it offroad or towed anything with it. He then took most things out of it before trading it in for another Hummer. All of the chrome showing is actually billet. Pic below are the "air vents". A bit too flashy for me but I'm not really noticing them anymore.

I have checked out the tow hooks for signs of usage and there is none. The undercarriage is in perfect shape as well.

Sort of ironic. I'm now changing it from a mall pimp mobile to an offroad maniac!!

rodster 01-24-2006 06:50 PM

Yup, that's a slick OnStar install.

A previous toy-heavy owner might explain the other switch and since idle switches are not good, you must install a new toy that needs it.

You might want to remove that brush catching bo-o-o-o-i-i-i-ing maker before the Mojave Road event. Lift the rubber boot and unscrew it with wrench.

If you're going to run your rear cam video signal through you dash screen then yes, that switch could be used to change video sources. Good idea.

Up on the switch for front lights, down for rear, very nice.

Winch? Depending on which you get you might want a switch for a solenoid.

Electric Bumper Dumper lid lifter?

tomp 01-24-2006 07:24 PM

I wish GM would have lef the Onstar buttons on the rearview mirror like my Chevy truck had

It's because the SUT was designed as a more capable offroad vehicle than the SUV, and as such, has a higher ride height than the grocery-getter SUV.

TootsSUT 01-24-2006 07:36 PM

Rear cam or electric bumper dumper lid lifter? Hmmmm. Difficult choice. I'll have to sleep on it!!

KenP 01-24-2006 07:41 PM

Nice truck, ugly color, you need 37's.

Post a pic of the CB.

TootsSUT 01-24-2006 07:45 PM

LOLOLOL!!

I'll post that by tonight! Need to do some minor adjustments!

Since you're changing it around, if you don't want the gas door, I'll buy that off of you for a reasonable price... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You know, I may actually consider that. My only dilemna is that the gas tank cover has been screwed in and will leave holes so I need to do some research on what to replace it with so the unattractive holes don't show!!

I'll PM you and let you know what I've found and at what cost. Are you interested in the "air vents" as well?? They are very nice if you like billet and the chrome look!!

Good Lookin Rig

but please do us all a favor and get some rims and chuncky tires

As usual, Phil is exactly correct. I have it on good authority that the bed was specifically designed to fit the medium Bloomingdales bag.

Medium Brown Bag fits in the H3....SUT could easily fit a BIG brown bag.

LoLo 01-24-2006 09:54 PM

Jennifer...

Nice looking rig! (even though it IS black! )

If it was done while you have had it, what kind of shop did the DVD install and Onstar move? They did a really nice job with it -- has me thinking!!!
