Well after all of the comments on the new H3, my husband and I have received an invitation to go and TEST Drive it on the Test Track at our Dealership.. I think I am going to take them up on that offer to see how well it does. Will my Opinion Change?

Do they use the same track as the H2 uses? Will it make the same obstacles (I doubt it
![]() I guess I need to read up on the H3's standard features ie: traction control, lockers, approach/departure angles, transfer case etc. etc. |
I just did some looking around on the Hummer website. It sounds like they have traction control, rear diff. lock standard. Thats cool. It also looks like they ALL come with a 5 speed MANUAL trans. The 4 speed auto is an option

Well I sure hope that they have an AUTOMATIC there to test out.. I can't drive Stick for the life of me!!

I must be reading the info wrong. It's so nice you can't link or cut and paste from the Hummer site

Dear HummerChic,
I would like to ask a personal favor. I value your posts and your input on this site. I, for one, would not want to suppress your input. Consequently, I am having a really hard time dealing with your signature, "Ok... I'll shut up! ![]() I realize this is a request that I have no right to make of you and it pertains to my issues, not yours. Still, if it isn't too much to request, please at least consider it. Thank you. Be well, |
I believe I might be the blame for that, although I certainly did not tell her to shut up . . . . . . . . . yet.

DRTY did it!!

The mini-site says it can scale a 16" wall...the only thing that may limit it is the approach/departure/break-over angles....

You should drive it where it will be driven and matters most, on the street. My point is if your buying one to scale walls and ford streams and expect it to go where no other vehicle can go then get an H1.
My wife and I went and drive one as she was thinking of trading in her H2. We didn't get more than a mile from the dealership before her mind wass made up to keep the H2. I think she had already decided when she saw how much smaller the interior was, space will spoil ya. The ride isn't near H2 comfort and ability, so other than a claimed 19 MPG whay would anyone want it over an H2. D |

There will be many name buyers that can now afford it. I just hope a ton of liberty / grand cherokee / Durango people hop on the H3. |
I concure with D/C.
I actually dropped by Ken Batchelor today and testdrove the H3,(Highway only!). The 1st thing I noticed was the very nice leather interior, and the sweet looking contrast piping. The H3 definetly drove different than an H2. Not bad different, just different. It drove more like a truck. More utility like, than luxury SUV. It was very quiet inside, except for the engine noise when it downshifted (More bark than bite!). The vehicle could definetly use more horsepower, but nothing that can't be fixed with a Colorado based supercharger. I did notice that there appears to be more than enough space to run 35's. Thanks to the larger fender wells, a small lift may even accomodate 37's. I think with an add-a-leaf or re-arching the rear springs, and torsion lift, 37's would be very do-able. All in All, I see the H3 as a very well thought out vehicle, and a fun offroad vehicle for the family! Congrats to all the new H3 owners, and invites to all to test drive the H3. KB has lots to tes drive! Ric-H2 |
For a lot of people the over all size of the H2 is just too much but they love the look. Personally, if a new H2 was in my budget right now, I would be getting one rather than the H3. Unfortunately, it is out of my budget right now so I am going with the H3. It sucks, but your are correct, there are plenty of people who will buy them for the name but don't lump all H3 buyers together. I don't really care what name is on it, I am getting one for its looks and capabilities. If it was all about "See what I have" I would just get a used H2.

Well,
It does go right through the couse no problem. But like Phil said why put 250k into a track that you can only use for two models. The vehicle will hold its own 4wheeling,but many of thefolks buying them will never and I mean never take them off road. Kinda hard on a new vehicle aren't ya Phil? Its not a H2 or H1. With out mods it will go pretty much anywhere you have the nuts(Drty)to drive it. |

I know a number of H2 owners that will more than likely never do any wheeling in them and of all that I have seen driving around, I have only seen one that looking like it just went off the pavement. I plan on wheeling my H3. |
Oh don't get me wrong, i understand the reason an H2 doesn't fit most folks desires and why the H3 would or could. We're just disapointed there is such an extreme difference in size.
I doubt you could run 35's stock and 37's would require serious lift, possibly negating some of the H3's agility. I'd be seriously considering the Colorado Supercharger since we charged the H2 and loved it. D. C. |
Okay, off subject (imagine that coming from me
![]() Denny- do you watch "Boston Legal" w/ William Shatner or have you seen it? ![]() |
h2c-p, give it up!
![]() Getting back to the tire size issue, I have not seen an H3 in the "steel" so to speak, but from the photos and the shape of fender and quarterpanel/rear-door wheel surrounds, it looks like trimming it out for larger wheels would be a fairly easy task. I can't address the wheel travel aspect. Okay, now back to h2c-p and tonights TV viewing discussion. ![]() ![]() |

I guess we'll have to wait until some fits some 35's to one, but i suspect there may some clearance issues when wheelin'. [img]http://www.*******club.com/temp/h3_4.jpg[/img] </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Phil, I think 35s will be do able but close where your pointing out. Typically, GM’s tire envelope also includes tire chain clearance at full lock and full jounce, in most cases it lets you go up a tire size or two with no problem. Also on a leaf spring rear suspension the axil center travels rearward as the springs are compressed’ giving a little more room at that point. |
Butt of course.
