Nice pics!!-- looks like a good time!

Nice pics. How do you like the magnetic shields? Do they stay on pretty well?

H2 Daddy 07-01-2003 02:42 AM

The shields are great and they stay on very well. I even took the H2 up to 95 mph for a very short time as a test. I was doing 80 to 85 mph most of the time and I said to myself, "this is for the forum", and pushed it up to 95 mph. The manufacturer of the shield recommended the leading edges of the shields be taped, but I taped all the edges because tape is cheap.

Nice PICS!

Buddy,
Nice shots man, glad the shields held up so well for you. That hill shot is sweet.

I'm going to try my shields out on the interstate since you've had good luck. I'll be sure to tape all the edges too. It will sure beat cleaning the doors at the event and then putting the shields on the H2.

Did you break your T-case? How did it happen?

Thanks,
skulz

I saw your post over on the technical discussion. Sucks about your tcase and it being the 2nd time. Maybe it will be covered under warranty again since they use refurbished/used parts for warranty work...

Anyways, I just try to think of all the fun I've had instead of the damage I've caused

Still great photos!

I broke my TC going up a small hill with loose soil. The soil was deep so I had to give it hell to get up to the top. The jeep in front of me had to try about four times to get up, so when it was my turn I hit it hard. I made it up about 3/4 of the way and then heard a bang. After that I only had front wheel drive. We winched it up the hill and then I drove it back to the hotel. It was then picked up by a flat bed truck and brought back to my dealer 180 miles away.

It will be fixed again under warranty. The first time the TC broke I was just driving down the highway. It happened at about 3,800 miles and had never even been off-roaded.

I am wondering it H2's have weak transfer cases. I was with a Hummer mechanic at the time and he said it should have not broken like that. We were not doing anything extreme.

I read something in the latest issue of Four Wheel& Offroad about the BW t-cases in the H2's having a flaw. I'll try to find the mag and post what it says.

The black are magnetic shields that help prevent the paint from getting scratched up.

Artie

CHris is right, the black panels are magnetic shields and the rest of the truck is orange.

I don't know what % the incline was, but I do know that it was very steep. The pictures were from a 4 wheel driving class I was taking and if the instructor had not told and showed us the hill was makeable, I would have never tried it. It is amazing what the H2 can do, the H1 made these hills like effortless. The instructor's Ruebacon was pretty amazing too.
