Took this picture with a camera phone...Sorry the quality isn't too great.

Just more evidence I made the right decision getting the H3.

I will be curious to see how they look all tricked out, but street ones like that just look like giant jellybeans.

DarthKarl 03-29-2006 09:25 AM

Last weekend, I finally got to see and sit in an FJ. I haven’t however gotten to drive one yet.

I was surprised at how small it is. While I think the exterior is kinda-of "cute" the interior is a real mess. To me, the rig comes across as a toy and a bit girlie.

Steve - SanJose 03-29-2006 06:33 PM

So the FJ's are out now. Looks a bit too retro for my taste.

I'm giving a big time-2 on the JellyBean comment. And to think I had considered waiting for one. Sure glad that I didn't!

Not that you wouldn't look good in it Shaggy.

DTHVLY 03-29-2006 07:29 PM

I kind of like the silver but waiting for white or red. I like that they already have a lot of aftermarket mods, here's some pics.

ARB bumper, winch, lights, TRD wheels, 32" BFG AT's

3" Revtek Lift, 33" MT Baja Claws

Stock grill guard, Hella lights, 32" BFG AT's, options avaliable Summer 06.

Yep. The yota boys will still pick on you even though you'll drive circles around them.

Be careful what you say about the H3. There are a lot of people around here that actually like them for some reason.

Its because ARB knows that FJ's will go off-road where as the H3 is just a pavement princess.

Ha , but honestly the FJ does have a unique look that not everyone will like but seeing it next to the H3 does make the FJ look better.

Doesn't Toyota pay you to design safety belts, not post on forums on their time?

Do you get a free bowl of soup when you buy one of those? Oh, looks good on you though.

Here is an interesting thread about H3 versus FJ.

http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=0&fID=1&tID=78929&bottom= 10

Just happened to come across it searching for spec comparisons.

NEOCON1 03-30-2006 02:01 AM

LMAO whats up with their avatars LOL

Sewie 03-30-2006 04:28 AM

A bunch of ricers talking 4x4. LMAO!!!

kacyk 03-30-2006 04:42 AM

I actually drove a pre-production model last year in Santa Monica (My brother works for Edmunds). At that time we had our H3 and I liked the Hummer's interior and exterior better. However, the technology that went into creating the FJ is pretty damn impressive.

Kacyck - Is the FJ as ugly as the pictures in person? How did the engine in the FJ compare to the H3 based on your drive?

I'm not questioning your statements, but this post brings teh funnay:
Quote:

Looking at the FJ it doesn't seem to be lacking in approach angles (VS the H3) (Para's and italics from KenP).
Whatever.

Toyota always puts their best foot forward and I'm sure the FJ is great at waht it does, but I can't see how one could out wheel and H3.

These guys/gals bring teh funnay

Note: Near quote of KenP was entirely unintentional... I mean, who would want to quote Ken?

ShaggyX 03-30-2006 12:16 PM

Slightly biased (not as biased as a lot of you are ) comparison over on the FJ forum.

FJ vs. H3

poncho1965 03-30-2006 01:00 PM

Had the FJ been available when I bought my H3, I would have strongly considered it. I wanted the most capable vehicle off-road, without lots of modifications. I think we'll all get used to the looks of the FJ. There's one on the local lot, gonna stop and check it out.

Seatbelts? No I'm in charge of designing 4x4 buttons but since the FJ has a transfer case shifter instead of buttons I have alot of free time on my hands.

I can understand why you guys went with a shifter instead of buttons. Your market research for potential FJ owners showed a high percentage of people who like long shafts.
