Last night I received via US mail a thank you letter from my dealer for buying the Hummer H2. Attached to the thank you letter was a card that stated in bold, red letters:

"Redeem For Free Tank Of Gas", or something to that effect.

I thought, wow! a free tank of gas! I will run it till empty, and then redeem my card for free gas! (Just filled up at COSTCO @ 247.9)

Then I started to read the small print on the card, under the bold, red letters(the small print is never good news), "Bring in your GM Survey, uncompleted, and receive a free tank of gas."

What would you do? Take the gas, or take the GM survey?

Take the gas then write GM a letter along with a copy of the letter that you received and see if that is Kosher.

That **** pisses me off. All the dealer is trying to do is get your blank survey from you and fill it out themselves with 100% satisfaction.

If you were going to put anything other than perfect on it, I'd tell them to suck it.

tower 04-05-2005 08:43 PM

If you think their service was flawless, there's no conflict. If not, make a photocopy of the survey. Fill it out honestly. Drop it in the mail. Next day or two, take the original to the dealer and collect your free tank. Then go home and wait for the fun to begin!

Tully 04-05-2005 09:15 PM

tower...AWESOME idea!!!!

I would do that...f' them both! If you can't make an exact photocopy for any reason ( paper is different, etc.. ) give the dealer back the original and send GM the photocopy along w/ a copy of the original letter ( photocopy it for your records ) and your honest opinion of your experience w/ the dealership...and your honest opinion of this situation...don't elude to giving the dealership the blank card and getting the gas...let the crocks square off w/ the mother ship on their own

DennisAJC 04-05-2005 09:21 PM

NO, NO, NO!

Blackmail them for 7 tanks of gas.

Then send in the copy.

mstams 04-05-2005 09:24 PM

I have overheard dealers talking about offering customers $100 for their "completed" surveys...

Arizona Hummerboy 04-05-2005 09:30 PM

Send a copy to GM and to Hummer and tell them this is BULL ****!!!

HGW 04-06-2005 01:17 AM

Forget the whole damn thing---dealers are crooks and we all know it, no matter how much they smile.

Waste no no more of your life over a tank of gas. Life is short. Go have fun or use the time to make more money or spend it with your family.

hart- I cant believe they want your uncompleted survey for a tank of gas , thats unbeleivable.
I'd send a letter back to the owner of the dealership and tell him , You'll buy him a tank of gas if you can bang his old lady in the piss fenders.

Hart...I notice they say "bring" it in. I'm wondering if they want you to complete it in their presence to answer any questions/complaints/etc you may have? It could just be their proactive way of staying on top of customer satisfaction. Not saying it is but you might want to take it in and see what happens. Then you can decide whether or not to take some of the other actions suggested here.

4churchill 04-06-2005 03:53 AM

At our store if you bring in a completely satisfied survey we will give you a free tank. I don't know my feelings on this, but I can say things are alot better around the dealership when CSI ratings rae up!

Hart1 04-06-2005 01:00 PM

LV: Good question. I was looking it over last night, and the exact wording is ""...bring in your Blank survey..."". I don't really know...

I will not sell my soul for 2.47 a gallon !!
(however, I will keep the card/servey handy just in case gas hits 3 bucks a gallon )

Exploding People 04-06-2005 01:02 PM

tower 04-06-2005 01:16 PM

Where can I get gas for $2.47?

Marcmedic 04-06-2005 01:40 PM

I wansn't aware that Bush could run for another term in 2008. Maybe you haven't got to that part of the social studies book yet.

Exploding People 04-06-2005 01:41 PM

jesus christ, sarcasm people

Hart1 04-06-2005 01:45 PM

COSTCO at Palm Desert

4churchill 04-06-2005 02:58 PM

Hart since I live up 74, I drive right down Monterrey to that costco when I am at home. Thats the only place in the desert I fill up

H2 Bill 04-06-2005 03:05 PM

Actully, the Exxon in Rancho Mirage is pretty close in price if you don't want to drive that far.

Hart1 04-06-2005 03:34 PM

We should all meet at the River for Lunch sometime....

usetosellhummer 04-06-2005 04:02 PM

Ok I know cause I was the scum that asked you to bing it in. The good survey means money for the dealership in SFE bonus. If your happy just do it and take the gas and noone gets hurt. If your pissed take it to the GM and talk about it.
It si America so calm down and sending it to Hummer will do nothing but piss off your dealer. And if they find out it was you then lots of luck when you need help on a warrenty issue.

H2 Bill 04-06-2005 04:12 PM

That would be fun!

Asking a customer to bring in the survey blank is simply wrong and is bad business. It's called bribery. Asking the customer to complete the survey and then bring it in is all together different. GM rewards those dealers with not only a high satisfaction rate but those with high survey return rate. Therefore some dealerships reward their customers for completion and return of the survey. Nothing wrong with that.

Glad to know you admit to being scum.

BKLYNH2 04-06-2005 04:49 PM

Dealers are scum.
They always ask for that nice report card and they keep giving crappy service.
Always want to make up for it after the fact.
I'm with Dennis try to extort them for all their worth.
Besides the way GM is going they may not be paying out any benefits soon anyway.
