Gauge Cluster, low tire pressure light and more

I went onto the beach with the truck last week and aired down the tires before I went out there. The Low Tire Pressure light came on, which made sense. After wheeling, I aired back up. The light stayed on, but after I turned the truck off and started it again, the light did not come back on. That seemed right. Now, the Low Tire Pressure light keeps popping on. Seems to be random. When I start the truck, sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone know what the issue is here?

The two other things I've had happen with the gauge cluster deal with the whole thing. Once, driving down the road I looked at my speed and noticed the entire cluster was dead. Nothing was working. That only happend once, about two months ago. Then, last week, I looked down while driving and noticed all the idiot lights were one. In this case, everything was working. That has only happened once also. WTF is up with my gauge cluster?

The truck goes in next Saturday to have the steering shaft replaced and they are checking into this, but I was hoping someone here can tell me what the issue is so I can tell them.

Thanks! :beerchug:

Re: Gauge Cluster, low tire pressure light and more

After airing up it takes a mile or so for the light to go off.(or maybe shut off and restart,I never tried that.
If the light goes on then off when driving its due to a low tire (32Psi or less in one)
Check them cold(in the morning) and adjust to 35lbs (Adventure)
At the beach I put in 37lbs(hot) and im around 35 in the AM.

I heard about the cluster going out though it never happened to me,Try search.

I have a 06 so I had no trouble with the steering shaft,Try search:grouphug: :beerchug:

donno about the entire cluster, maybe its faulty or maybe its just a loose connection, since it happened only once. if heard of this before, donno what the fix was, but its not dangerous or anything as far as i know.

as for the LTP if its not related to the cluster issue, and i dont know if it is or not, you might not have aired back up as much as you should have. you might have done this already but make sure your tires are at the correct presure when cold. sounds like you may be rigth on the treshhold.

good luck

I didn't check them cold. :/ I aired back up to 35 psi right after I got off the beach. I will check them this morning.

I have searched for the gauge cluster issues and did not come across anything. I remember reading about it after it first happened two months ago, but can't find what forum that was on. I thought it was here, but the search didn't return anything.

I'm good with the steering shaft issue. No need to search anymore for that one.:)

The cold pressure was 31 pounds. :twak: I drove to the gas station and aired them to 35 pounds. We'll see how it goes over the next few days. Hopefully, that's all it was.

The gauge cluster is still a concern though.

2 Attachment(s)
:beerchug: Go with 37 after a day at the beach then check next morning.
Make sure you have a good digital gauge that has 1/2 pound increments.
Also If you wheel you should carry a compressor.

A masterflow fits in cubby, custom fit to jack compartment or like I have installed under the hood.(check search for install info)
I also carry a coily hose with a gauge in case the line is to long at the beach(they have extra air couplers if you have your hose.)

Its good to have tire deflaters also(I set mine for 18lbs)
