Re: Original Owners ?
I've been having Hummer withdrawal since I sold the H2 last summer and the H3 last spring. On the prowl for a nice low mileage H3 Alpha now - downsizing :) These Hummers get in your blood. I won't even go into how badly the AWD Lexus got stuck in the snow this winter - I know it's mainly a matter of tires but.......

Re: Original Owners ?
HummerJim, if you find one pass on the info! I have 2010 Alpha with 63,000 miles on it, got it new in July 2010 but I drive it every day so I drive a lot. I saw an H3 for sale the other week, a 2010 with only 210 miles on it, but it wasn't an Alpha. After having a non Alpha for almost 4 years and then an Alpha now for almost 4 years I couldn't go back. There is just no comparison.

Re: Original Owners ?
My wife traded her green '06 H3, bought new, for a white '08 in January of '08 also bought new. Except for the cylinder head issue covered under warranty on the '06 and a window lift conking out, no big issues. She liked the Shadow Green Metallic so much, I had her '08 painted that color for her while she was visiting her sister. Maaco did a nice job for$1100 and I've been happy with the quality of work and how it's held up. I'm loving my H2 and my son has an H3 he bought used in '09, so we're a three Hummer family.

I'll just say, I am NO Longer a Hummer owner!

Re: Original Owners ?
Another one (me bites the dust). Traded 06 H3 for an 09 H3T.
Just traded H3T in for 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. She had 95K on her. I will miss the 3s. But I do like the bigger truck bed, heated seats and mirrors. :) |
Re: Original Owners ?
I bought an 08 H3 Base back in 09 with 18.5k miles on it and ended up selling it due to school expenses when it had 65k miles with no issues. I've had some serious withdrawals and looking at getting a new one. The ones that are in my budget typically have around 80-110k miles. Are there any things I should look out for when buying one with that many miles? I see a lot of 3.5L with upwards of 150k miles. I loved the 3.7L but is there that much of a difference between the 3.5L and the 3.7L? I'm open to either engine but want to know what kind of expenses I could be looking at getting into with those higher miles, anything I should look for?

Re: Original Owners ?
Just remember the 3.5 was first year H3 so there could be a lot of other bugs besides the engine. You would hope in 150K miles all those bugs would have been fixed...but who knows.
There was a noticeable difference between the two engines. I had a 3.5 and then got rid of that and purchased a 2008 with the 3.7; big difference on the highways and especially in the mountains of CO and UT. I had a 2008 H3 with 55K miles up for sale, for quite a long time, for 15500 and no takers. Ended up trading it in for a big more than I was asking. |
Re: Original Owners ?
Thank you, are there any major specific bugs that you know of to look at prior to purchasing possibly for the 3.5L's or any thing else with the '06 H3's?
I did really like the 3.7L in the one I had. If I could find a good one in my price range I will definitely consider that over a 3.5L. What kind of differences have you noticed? I'm hoping to find an '07 or 08' with around 75k miles if I can for around the 12-14k range, if I can. |
Re: Original Owners ?
H3x bought August 2006...no problems...I'll keep it forever.

Engine light problem, and need a smog test. I just don't have a lot of time and money to fix it. Maybe next year. :-( |

Re: Original Owners ?
I'm still around! My 2007 H3 has 107k miles on it and still looks fairly new, albeit with a few scratches on it!
Did everyone see the latest GM recall regarding the blower motor resistor? It's about time GM and the NTHSA came to the realization these parts short out and melt the connector! I've replaced this part twice now for the same issue. Bill |
Re: Original Owners ?
135K water pump bearing went 5k ago I replaced belt , flushed rad and replaced tentioner pully to be safe it was orig.
Heater core just went ,crimped off lines and replacing in 2 weeks at my brothers shop. Big PITA Job, rather swing in a engine :giggling: other then that still driving like new even pulling camper :D |
Re: Original Owners ?
Still here Commented a while back on this thread, still have my 2010 H3 Alpha which i've owned since new, the radio controls are starting to not always work so that may need some replacing soon. other than that still running strong with 77k miles on it. Also have a "03 H1 HMCS I got last year got it with 36k miles, now has just over 40k miles. Love it, that one I've had some maintenance things with! Got a crack in the left windshield - replaced it, AC blower motor broke - replaced it. front valves for the CTIS system constantly leaked - replaced them. lastly had a small coolant leak which was fixed and the starter would not always worked - had that starter replaced. has been good other than that, hopefully not to many more other things come up!

Re: Original Owners ?
Still have mine; 2007 with less then 25k miles on, original owner & happy. Looks and drives great, just a few problems really...all caused by intended use - due to offroading stress....

Re: Original Owners ?
Cant believe 1st post of 2017 in H3 section ?
H3's getting to 150k, Time to change trans fluid again (every 37K) trans case , rears , PS fluid , rad fluid (every 75K) Decided to change all 4 original shocks with skyjacker nitro 8000. truck still rides good figured it's about time :giggling: years ago the dealer said to replace every 50K :twak: H3 still runs and drives and tracks like new going to the moon 234k |
Re: Original Owners ?
Unfortunately my lifter and timing belt and radiator all broke at the same time. So a nice hefty expensive repair! Should have my truck back Tuesday, the repair is expensive and the miles I'm at would almost make sense to get a new truck...but a new Hummer ain't an option so fixing it is!
