roof cross bars install problem

hi guys,
I bought some OEM cross bars, got them assembled, but now I have problem how to slide them into the roof rails.

there are those plastic pieces on the roof rails end that seem to be removable so I could slide the bars in; but, how to remove those plastic pieces? they are at the front end of each rail. I don't want to break/crack them.

thanks for advice a lot!

Dave

EDIT: never mind, got it done already.

You are at the wrong end of the rail. The cross members install from the rear. There is a removable assembly piece that has a single screw in it as I recall and once you remove the screw the metal piece that it holds down will come out. Then just slide in the cross rails.

thanks!

thats odd; on my '07 I had to remove the plastic in the front of the rail to slide them in, there is no removable piece at the rear of the rails.

anyway, got them installed OK. only wish they were more flush with the rails, but they hold fine...

deffinately install from the front end of the rails. The plastic pieces have a little tab. Push in and pull whole piece out. peice of cake
