Albie...I am using the 8703e on sprint. Great unit. It doesnt have alot of the smart phone bells and whistles but as far as I can see the blackberry push technology on the emails is the best and thats what I need it for. I was looking to get a new one, and see they are releasing one called the Bold I think? It looks pretty slick. Alot of new features.

This is my 2nd blackberry and i've found them to be far superior in construction than other phones. I usually only get about 9 months out of a phone and the only reason i got a new blackberry is I wanted a new toy. The other one worked perfectly. They are, IMHO, much better built than say a Treo or other smart phone.

Never used the PIN service....to be honest...dont know what the hell it is!

Re: Blackberry (crackberry)

i would say the blackberries are still lacking in the ability to run lots of 3rd party apps, not to mention you need to use their blackberry mail services, whereas any other phone will work out of the box with exchange. windows mobile is great for 3rd party apps, but the intephase sucks ass, the iphone is by far leaps and bounds ahead of everything else, but it lacks a few features like a memory expansion slot, battery life and overall speed could be improved, as well as a few UI, and enterprise features that should be added/fixed, but its still a goddamned apple product. the new tmobile g1, is just being introduced right now and has a lot of neat features but it is a stepchild right now, and the hardware is hideous. I wish windows mobile was better tho. it has so much potential but none of the hardware out there can compete with the refine of the iphone

Re: Blackberry (crackberry)

Hey guys I need some serious advice on cell phones. There are so many that researching them is rough. The past few weeks I have been having some heart problems reoccuring, 2 seperate in fact that goes back to bleeding 3 years before they gutted me to stop it. Anyway have a couple needs to ask about concerning cell phones and sat service.

I do not want Blackberry only because I do not need all the features. I am on Alltel, been with them almost 20 years and they have been very good to me. It is sort of a loyalty factor as well as I'm friends with Joe and Scott Ford the founders from way back when Joe had a little Mom and Pop phone come called Allied Telephone IN Vilonia, AR thus how the new name came about. They now are more back into the land line business with the break off of Windstream from Alltel. They will be back into cell business believe me.

Anyway I would like an iphone type working phone with huge full screen like iphone but, one that would work on CDMA 800, 1900. Now that Verizon will be closing the deal on purchase of Alltel in Feb. 2009 I may not stay with them. Alltel gives away everything Verizon makes you pay for everthing. I'm thinking of AT&T move somtime since they are my local landline company also plus they have role over minutes. That choice is down the road as Verizon has let it be known Alltel plans will not be messed with to soon plus they have to honor what you have till it runs out. Unless I move before I will renew my plan for 2 years just before deal is signed off on.

Would you guys please give me the choices out there of phones with full front screens with touchscreens. I have looked at the HTC models and there are already many hacks and software that will make them copy iphone function but, no full screen. I do think I will get rid of my laptop wireless internet card and use my cell phone for the modem on 3g network and get same speed. I can buy unlimited access on phone and on certain plans have a unlimitd internet access included and some you just get smaller plan but, pay $25 for internet. I think I would be able to use the phone itself to surf also. I want as much screen as possible because with all the illnesss I'm fighting if caught without reading glasses I want to see incoming calls numbers as well as find what I want to dial.

Sorry for length most of you know me for that gift. Before I had so many health battles it was not like this so I thank all you guys who I look at as Buds as well as Family for putting up with me.

Suggestions on phones will be so greatly appreciated. I think some Verizon phones may be used on Alltel if unlocked but, this is a topic I know little about or have forgotten allot of it. I have not asked anyone for help on this but, I knew there would not be a better crew or more knowledgeable to ask.

I also have some questions about the satalite services and if you are skilled in that area would you send me a private message so we can discuss that topic? Thank You in advance.

Thanks All, Us Band of Brothers, as I worry we may get smaller in number but, as I told a guy recently that I Love My H2 so much that I would sell everything I have before I would let go of my Hummer. I would rent RV space and sleep in my H2 before I would let go of my dream ride and the only real luxury I have allowed myself in life. As a small farmer there was not much left after needs and paying for kids schooling college that sort of thing.

Help with phone and SAT questions is needed very much Thank All,

TAZ

Re: Blackberry (crackberry)

you need to make the switch to att and get the iphone. i did notice my bill jumped up from 89 to about 120 tho because the data plan is required. but you wont find a better phone right now. there are a lot of imitations out there but just get the one they are all trying to copy. the iphone is great for a casual user but when it comes to enterprise work you cant beat the new HTC FUZE from att. it uses windows mobile, like you said their are lots of hacks to really customize it (same goes for iphone) howevewr the screen is smaller and it is not as refined as the iphone. if you go with tmobile, check out the G1. i dont care for it but it is the next hottest phone below the iphone.

ONE MORE FEATURE ABOUT THE IPHONE: If you make the switch to att, and get the iphone and decide you dont like it, SELL IT for 500$$!!!! people will buy it! they want the iphone, and will do whatever it takes to get it, they may be on a carrier they dont want to leave or in a foriegn country. people will pay for that bad boy. that price will cover the cost of the phone @ 199, + your cancelation from ATT @175$ and still leave you some change. I just sold my buddies iphone 3g for 480 nov28th! to a local guy. ilike i said this is the hottest phone out there, there is no denying it. its not for everyone but its the best.

Re: Blackberry (crackberry)

I do agree on the iphone. I like the HTC's. The Diamond model seems to be the best. My daughter just got the LG Glimmer on Alltel and it is nice. It has full screen like iphone and a slide out keyboard which she says she finds no use for keys. She uses her finger for everthing so it must be a good copy.

I stay with Alltel mainly because my kids are on it and we talk for free all of the country. Well also with Alltel based in Arkansas most of my friends are on it so we talk for free. They sort of got a strangle hold for the time being. I think it will go away once Verizon starts stirring the pot. Then I will go to AT&T for sure.

I got to see my first iphone today at the pharmacy and it was quite cool. If I go AT&t THEN I MAY LOOK AT IPHONE.

Thanks for info and anymore suggestions welcome.
