Radar Detector directwire install
Has anyone installed a directwire in the H3 yet? I've got one for an Escort 8500 and was just wondering where people hooked up the wires

Re: Radar Detector directwire install
I have done it, I just pulled the stereo/climate panel and wired it (with a fuse) to the rear wiper switch. I drilled a hole in the small odd shaped dashboard plug located top/center. I also fished wires for the auto mute button to mount it on top of the steering column. Works great.
Took a little time and carved out a block that contours around my detector and stuck it down to the dash. I will post pics. |

A wire you hook directly to your fuse block to power an accessory ie. radar detector, that way you dont have any wires showing and keeps your stuff out of view. Thats the best i can describe it |

Re: Radar Detector directwire install
This info should help You guys.
NOTHING needs to be removed put Your head underneath the dash by the foot break side to the firewall area. You'll see thick harness. then You'll see smal harness taped to it with blue connector on it. there will be 2 wires in it. Pink and Green. Pink wire is the one You want to use |
Re: Radar Detector directwire install
On a 2008 this harness isnt there - or it is but it has 3 wires..
I didnt have much luck finding a switched 12v on it - but I could have spent more time checking it.. I decided to get a fuse tap with extra power lead from autozone and go that route. |
