Wheel offset?

Can anyone explain in laymans terms exactly what wheel offset is and how you measure it? And what the amount of offset in the stock rims is? (In inches please.) Backspacing I understand. Which one has a more adverse affect on suspension components?

I'd like to get some aftermarket rims to put my 37x13.5x17 Toyo m/t's on without getting too radical and causing undue wear and tear on those little metal thingy majjigers under the front of the H2 that keep it rolling down the road in a straight line. :)

PS:I have stock suspension and no lift at this point.

Thanks in advance.

One more thing if you do run those tires and especially if you put the lift on you will want to add a steering support and idler/pitman support both can be found on trailduty web site.:)
