thinking of purchasing a 2000 h1 wagon however there was some major engine work would you buy or pass ?



have copies of repair orders (3) regarding specific work we did here #422142; replaced injection pump driver#417608; change oil, ABS sensor replaced, replaced glove box assembly, right front hub reseal, replace washer pump, replace four (4) tires ($360x4) #413021 replace #7 piston and rod and replaced L/H cylinder head due to cracked seat-this repair order lists an extensive list of gaskets, seals, ring kit and fluids and more


CARFAX reports service (normal) 10/26/2000 at 228 miles, 12/05/2000 no odometer record, 01/09/2001 no odometer record, 01/19/2001 at 449 miles titled issued to first owner, 03/27/2001 at 3,965 normal service, 06/08/2001 at 7,053 misc service and brakes serviced, 10/19/2001 at 11,419 misc service and suspension system serviced, 02/21/2002 at 15,405 miles service and electrical system serviced, 04/26/2002 at 17,771 service, 07/22/2002 at 18,220, 08/30/2002 at 18,447 service, 10/24/2002 at 20,827 service, 01/16/2003 at 24,785 service, continues that way through 27K,29K,31K,33k,35k,36k,38k until 06/30/2004 at 40,949 miles normal service, then the next CARFAX note is 08/01/2006 at 52,968 normal service, 04/20/2007 at 53,270 sold at auction in PA and listed as dealer vehicle, 05/17/2007 at 53,522 sold at PA auction and listed as dealer vehicle. 09/22/2007 at 54,463 miles sold to Owner #2 and serviced 10/29/2007 in Allentown (not at Scott) no odometer recording. Traded to us approximately 3200 miles later.

I dont know if I would buy a truck with a replaced piston and rod. Nor do I know why one would fail. Do you know if the injector on the No. 7 cylinder was replaced too? If so then it probably stuck open and could have ruined the piston/rod, but it usually will trash the bore of the cylinder too. HUMMER should have replaced that engine IMO. Everything else on the list is the normal stuff that fails on an H1, but I too would have a hard time getting past that No. 7 piston/rod.

thanks for the reply the truck has 57 thousand miles and they want 38,999 its actually a hummer dealer and they took it in on trade.

I don't have a very good feeling about it. There are plenty of others out there. Keep looking.

Not a good deal!!!!! Keep on looking. I have a 99 that I could do 28k.. :) As for the 2000 That kind of asking price should be for a very good condition truck with no issues or history....
