New Truck W/ New Wheels And Tires! Need some Advice.

Well here is my 06 SUT that I picked up a few weeks ago. Had about 37,000 miles on it. Not too bad. Should I put a Matching spare on the truck or completely take the carrier off. I like the smooth look with the carrier off. I don't care about having a spare either. These are just some rough pics I took in the driveway. Doesn't really do the truck justice.

I took the chrome brush guard off and sprayed it with bedliner. Turned out pretty good not sure how durable it will be. I will post pics when I put it back on the truck. How hard are the door handles to remove?

I like having a meaty tire on the spare. I'd get a wheel and matching tire. I've got 37" Cooper STT on the factory wheels, but have all five tires on my SUT. Personally I think that looks a lot better than leaving the factory tire/wheel for the spare. I prefer the look of the SUT WITH the spare, rather than without.

What size tires and wheels are those? Looks fantastic! I may have to join the Rockstar club as well.
:D

I dont ever get sick of seeing rockstars on Hummers, they look incredible and fit the truck perfectly!

NICE RIG!
:perfect10s:

I say go for the matching spare tire/rim. That will look mean as heel hanging off the back...plus I know you're going to wheel that truck, so you may as well get it now. :fdance:

Spare looks better with it matching. But take those wheels off I'm so sick of every hummer having those they look terrible. But it is your rig and I don't have to drive it so oh well. I like the tires though :D

Great ride bro !!! About the spare : or take it off (smooth look) or get a matching rim/tire.

I'd personally take it off.

Good luck

Thanks for the comments! Good,Bad, and the Haters. Like I said before. I know the Rockstars are played out but nothing on the market looked better. Here in Ga. noone has them. The MotoMetal wheels are beat the death here. I wasn't going that route again. Don't worry guys, I'm not planning on leaving the factory tire. I am torn with the decision. I really like the clean lines without the spare. I also think the 35" mud grappler hanging off the back would look mean. I guess I am going to take it off and see how I like it. I have some 4140 steel lying around the shop. I am going to mill some tow hook brackets and use the existing rings. Sucks because I don't have free spindle time to make them right now!

Timgco had the wheel and tire size right. 18x9 wheel 35x12.50x18 tires. This truck is no different than the last one. It will be wheeled on a regular basis:fdance:

I took the chrome brush guard off and painted it with some Rustoleum bed liner spray. It looks killer but not sure how durable it is going to be. I'll post pics up once I touch up a few spots that are bugging me. I took the chrome fuel door cover off and sprayed it satin black to match the wheels. Next on the list are the hood latches and handles. I have a set of chrome side steps if someone wants to trade for the quick release steps.

Do you still have your old steps Tim?

The door handles aren't hard to take off, they're just a pain because of what goes with them. The real pain is that there is a pin that has to be taken out to switch the handles once out of the truck. The pins are not replaceable.

If you have an issue and you're in NC, stop by one of my bodyshops, I'll swap them out for you.

As far as the spare, I pulled mine from the truck but kept the carrier just in case. I think if the spare matches the rest of the wheels, it looks great.

The only reason I pulled mine is because it's a PIA to have to swing the carrier out to open the tailgate.

If you go with the spare, match it with the rest. I had my spare on there for a few years , first a 37 in grappler and then a 37in rockstar. I just took it off, i always struggled with the fact that when viewed fromm the side it looked "droopy" and sagged with that God awful "gap". However, from the back it looks really good. I know lucky1 and i discussed this and he is contemplating fabricating a bracket to snug the spare up closer to the body.
