I am interested in installing my 5 channel xtant amp, two pair MB Quart speakers and Orion sub/enclosure but cannot decide on the head unit. Since the dash does not contain a true double-din opening, what things have others done to "customize" the installation of a single-din unit in the dash ? Have you incorporated ONstar? How about the steering wheel controls ?
I appreciate any input and pictures....... |

Phild....Thanks....exactly what I had envisioned for my head unit. Where did you buy your Necvox ? I have searched and can only find the flip up units available...... My stereo store is unsure of what all might be affected by removing the factory head unit.....I'm going to take the first step and install all of the other equipment to "enhance" the Bose unit.....and grow from there !

I wish I could remember where I saw it...
But so far the coolest install I've seen had a 1 DIN radio installed where the OnStar is. Where the factory radio was there was an LCD monitor that was a PERFECT fit for the opening. Looked like a 4x3 screen though... I believe the Onstar was moved to the review mirror location. Probably a mirror yanked off of a GMC Sierra or something... -Jim March Arlington TX 2003 Red H2 Beauty is in the eye of the Beer Holder |
The Xtremeflow H2 had that done but they left the on star out completely. The is a 6" widecreen where the factory head unit was and the cd/dvd player was installed where the on star was. the ox with 10" is on top of the jack cover.
