Poll: Who would consider buying an H1 (instead of an H2), if the price would be same as H2?
I know I wouldn't.
H2 is LIKE NOTHING ELSE.
Not even like H1.

The H1 is more stronger then H2.It has more room
in it.

When I came home today, there was a black H1 on the freeway with me for about 6 miles, in an 80PMH traffic pack. H1 in front of me, behind me, back and forth, as result of the traffic not due to any Hummer dance. I wouldn't want to deal with H1 on a daily basis, but, H1, I like.

12-24-2002 10:24 AM

I think I saw the same one.

If the price on the H1 comes down by 30 grand - yes, I would absolutely love to own one. I don't have to deal with city roads very often, so the only hurdle has been the initial sticker shock.

The used market would look really enticing too!

Road Hog: Is this news true or are you messing with us? Please come clean - where did you hear this news, as $30K is a monumental shift.

MAC 12-27-2002 10:53 PM

$130K-$30K=$100K still too much. I think I have seen $20K discount on brand new H1 in local dealer ads, plus 0%, 0 down. There are lots of 96-98 used H1s on the market for less than H2, nothing changed and no improvement, still the same technologies and handsome body from 20 years ago. Might as well buy a used H1.

If they make H1 with H2 modern technologies, reliability and H2 interior, I'll buy one. Maybe $60K-$70K is reasonable?

HummerH2 12-28-2002 03:30 PM

They will lower the price 60K.They are going to take out the disel and make gas standard.Disel will be optinal.

PhilD said "Many H2 owners bought an H2 because they wanted a Hummer and couldn't afford the $100K+ price tag of a H1."

I am not sure if you are correct in your above description or analysis. Most people do not buy it because it is nothing but trouble, despite its handsome look and REGARDLESS of the price. Why bother asking or thinking about the price if most people know H1 is "mine requires plenty of maintenance and generous helpings of cash to keep it happy." H1's problem is no secret, who has the time to mess with a vehicle that sits in the garage leaking oil. Reliability comes way before price.

But PhilD, I envy your H1, keep both of them.

Though the H1 has an undeniable mystique, I don't think I could own one unless I were ridiculously (e.g., Powerball) rich. I'm too practical (haha). I actually ask for useful things instead of jewelry for special occasions (yes, I AM a woman: I already have enough jewelry).

H2 fits me just fine, and, though I'm somewhat envious of those that have H1's, I don't feel we've made a compromise. As a daily driver, I'll take H2 any day.

You are a rare find, a woman who does not get upset when getting a toaster oven for birthday, or truck nutZ for Christmas; assuming truck NutZ is an useful thingy in NY.

bklynh2srock 12-30-2002 01:35 AM

And why wouldn't Truck NutZ be practical? BTW, glad to see you got the spelling straight this time -- I think my NutZ got insulted. I think they would make a great paperweight, or hat, or brooch, or teradactyl. I wonder if they could be a jello mold? That would make them EXTRA practical, as I would certainly be a hit at the next family reunion. Ugh. I lose myself. It's a good thing few people venture to this part of the site for my pearls of wisdom.

Honey are you on the crank again?
