Heat and recirculate at same time?
My climate control is almost always set to "AUTO" at 70F degrees. During the hot summer days with AC on, I engage "RECIRCULATE ↻ " to rapidly cool down the interior air.
However, I can't seem to be able to do the same thing when the heater is on. When the outside is cold and I turn on the heater, the heater takes in the cold outside air, warm it up and send it inside. Why can't I have the heater to take in the already-somewhat-warm interior air and heat it even warmer? When my heater is on and I press "RECIRCULATE ↻ ", the computer seem to override and disengage it in a few seconds. Is this normal? Is my recirculation (blend door) broken? I have 2008 H2. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Heat and recirculate at same time?
well, if it wasn't SNOWING outside today I would go out and check mine...October 16 and snow in NH, what a dump... lol
I have an 09, will give it a check tomorrow as it looks like the heater will be on for the next 7-8 months! :fdance: |
Re: Heat and recirculate at same time?
Yes, for a 2003 model. Really annoying... but I guess it's to keep you from fogging up your windows...

In that case, I envy you. Quote:
I'm able to: - set the TEMP analog dial to "hot" (heater on) - switch on "recirculate" - switch on AC By turning on the heater, AC, and recirculate, all simultaneously, it would give me a dry warm air (w/ its moisture ridden by the AC). It would keep me warm and de-fog all my windows. I want that. |
Re: Heat and recirculate at same time?
Bump -- Just wanted to revisit and clarify this issue.
Both 'recirculate' button and 'AC' button soon deactivate in a few seconds every time I press and try to activate in the last few month (during this winter). (I have 08 H2, and it has auto-climate-control system with separate interfaces for the driver, the navigator, and the rear passenger.) - Is it possible to heat the cabin air and recirculate at the same time? - Is it possible to heat the cabin air and "AC" ON at the same time? I'm asking this because H2 is my 1st vehicle with auto-climate control system. All the vehicles I owned before were equipped with manual-climate control, and I was always able to perform both above scenarios. 'heat' + 'recirculate' -> for rapid heating 'heat' + 'AC ON' -> for dehumidifing I'm wondering if other fellow H2 owners are experiencing the same, and this is the norm, or if my climate unit (especially the blend door) is broken. Thanks. |
Re: Heat and recirculate at same time?
I just went out and tested mine... 2006, no climate controls in the back.
Recirculate would not stay on in any scenario when the system was in "AUTO" mode. A/C could be turned on or off in "AUTO" mode. Re-circ.. of course... could be used while not in "AUTO" mode. Hope this helps. |
Re: Heat and recirculate at same time?
Thanks for your reply. That helped a lot. I didn't know I was supposed to disengage 'AUTO' first. I feel a bit dumb.

But, 'Re-Circ' does not stay engaged, when 'AUTO' and 'A/C' is off, and only 'Re-Circ' is turned on. (wierd?) Well, I now feel better, and it's most likely working then. BTW, does anyone know of any sequence of sort for the climate unit to run diagnostic and display any error codes? |
