37 Toyo MT on 18" Rockstars

Hi

Been reading alot of reviews and threads on this forum about the Toyo MT tires. Ever since i first got stuck in some mud about 6 months ago ive been wanting to get some good mud tires that also perform well in both snow and on the highway. From what I've read the Toyos seem like the best fit.

Also would like a bit bigger tire because the stock ones seems to small for the H2.

Would I be able to run Toyo open country MT 37 on 18 inch rockstars without needing fender flares or a lift kit ? Dont care to much about minor rubbing, as long as it wont destroy anything or damage tires or be to wide to need flares.

And what kind of backspasing / offset would i need to get this setup to work as well as possible ?

Any input much appreciated

I can't answer your question on backspacing for those rims in particular, but on the stock 17 in rims you should be fine on 37's minus a little rubbing on the sway bar

I run Toyo 37x13.50x18 with 4.5 backspacing. Rubs very little but I also cranked up my Torsion bars.
Also if you have Stock Air Suspension you will have to do the ride height sensor mod if you do any wheeling. Very easy mod to do.

its also known every H2 is a little different. Some rub more than others. I know on mine the passenger side sway bar has been slightly polished by the front tire. I can feel the tread on the sway at full lock.

I do plan on going with 37's though when I need new tires. I'm assuming new wheels with a different backspacing to push the tires outward a bit should solve that rubbing.

Not to thread hijack but this may be a really stupid question....

How much taller are the 37's compared to the stock 35's? Aren't the BFG stockers more like 34.5"? Anyone know the actual size of say Toy Open Country MT's?

Reason I ask is I only have a few inches of clearance into the garage and even though I want bigger tires I don't want to lose parking in the garage...the AZ sun destroys pain in no time.

Seems like a good price, would these work without fender flares or lift you think?

fender flares have nothing to do with anything. It all depends on the backspacing. All fender flares will do is prevent dirt and mud from getting on the side of the rig and even at that its still gonna get dirty.

Here in Norway, you get a fine or can lose your license plates if you drive a car with wheels that is wider than the car (without fender flares).

oh I didn't know that, in that case the offroad fender flares would be your best bet. I would probably recommend getting those and installing them to then see what backspacing/tire width you could use.

Finally got the wheels and tires (took about 2 months by sea), put them on and just a little rubbing on the plastic on the wheel wells (the plastic), drilled a couple of 1 mm holes in the wells and tightened them up a bit to the frame with a steel wire. Voila, no more rubbing :excited:

The tires run really well on the highway, just a little bit more noise than the stock tires and behaves very well on all types of surfaces. Feeling good about my choice of tires.

Also got my fender flares from a company in Poland, about 150 dollars with shipping. Havent installed them yet but they look good and I hope they fit well.

Can you post up a link of these wider fender flares you picked up? Thanks
