37 tires rubbing any advise please!

New to the h2, have had 4 h1's. decided to get an h2. the truck came with a key lift of 2.5 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear. it had 32's on it i bumped up to 37.13.5.17 on stock 2003 h2 wheels.

front rub on all turns and rears rub every time i go over a bump. I am not sure what keys the previous owner used to lift it and what if anything he did to the torsion bars.

any help would be greatly apprciated as this is pretty much the only informative ACTIVE forum for the h2! thanks again

I ran 37s on stock for many years. All it took was a really good alignment, then no rub.

Could be the backspacing of the wheels that causes the issue with it hitting frame.

Agreed...I'm running 37x12.5s (with Truxx keys and a Cognito leveling kit) and had rubbing with the stock rims. The backspacing on the stockers are 5.5" if I remember correctly. When I switched to XD rims (same tires) with a 4.5" or 4.75" backspacing the rub went away completely.

You're prolly gonna have a slightly different experience since your rubber is an inch wider than mine...but I'd still bet that after market rims will fix you right up.

Now rears are another issue..do you have bags or coils? Because bags are notorious for going bad and you may not be getting the amount of lift you need.

Can't really see **** from your pics where you are rubbing and how much.

Some trucks get away w/ 37's, others dont. I know not all "37s" are the same true height. Seems the cheaper brands tent to exagerate their size a bit more to me. No idea if it was just slop in the assembly procedure at the mfg plant or what.... If the front IFS could be further forward slightly- Would have to get a group of rigs that did and didn't fit 37's together to compare measurements. But there was no way possible 37's would fit on my ride...left or right I couldn't turn a street corner. Ended up putting a 6" lift on and have been pissing away all my money on mods ever since.

An alignment isn't going to do ****.

Changing offset isn't going to do **** either. Your only changing how much further or less the wheels will be in from the stock position. The more you move the wheels out, the more its going to rub the outside of the wheel in the direction you turn. If you bring the wheels in, your going to rub the inside of the wheel turning more. Changing this will not solve your problem of not having enough height between the wheel and the vehicle.

You already have keys...if your ride still drives somewhat reasonable, I wouldn't screw w/ cranking on them any more.

You can half ass some of this by removing the inner fender covers. There is a pinch weld right about center of your tire. You can beat that over w/ a big ass hammer gain a little more room. I personally would never do this to any of my vehicles.

Next cheapest option is to throw a 2" body lift on the truck.

If you think thats kind half assing then a full blown lift is whats left.

What ever you decide to do, you need to remember when you jab the hell out of the brakes- the nose of the H2 will drop 3 or 4" down into the suspension. You need to/should account for this clearance also.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have rear bags and it rubs everytime i go over a bump. As far as the fronts they rub every turn i make i.e. normal right turn and normal left turn. i am willing to go to a new wheel with the correct back spacing needed. You guys think that will fix the prob? the wheel i would like to use is called the double standard can be found at....

http://www.methodracewheels.com/products/

17 x 8.5 8 lug 0mm 4.75" 2100 lbs. - 3600 lbs.

help will be great as tires are brand new and wheels i like the beed lock look, would hate to have to sell the set up and go a different way.

thanks again

would spacers help along with the 4.75 back spacing?

Well, the different back spacing DID resolve my rubbing issue with 37s.

Under normal driving conditions he shouldn't have to worry about the outside rubbing anything. Since he's getting rubbin the rear on bumps, i'd say his rear suspension has gone soft. There shouldn't be that much give in the rear unless he's hitting' bumps at 60 mph.

I recommend aftermarket rims with 5" or less backspace to eliminate the rub on turns and that someone give his rear suspension a look-see to address the rub on bumps.

Gotta agree with this^^. Offset makes a big difference.

How much actual room do you have between the wheels and fenders/rub points wheels straight, and wheels turned.

Re: 37 tires rubbing any advise please!

You moved your wheels out like 0.9" assuming you went w/ a 10" wide wheel w -12 offset. You must not of been rubbing much, and only on the inside.

Offset and backspace are relative to each other...two different ways of measuring the same thing.

Post some pics!
