An honest TV reporter talks about oil

Big local news was gasoline going from $2.95 a gallon locally last night to $3.39 a gallon this morning. When a local oil exec was questioned he said it was from scheduled maintenance at a local refinery, nearby. So the inquisitive reporter went to the refinery and was told they were operating at 95%, same as they had all year and that only about 15% of their gasoline was sold within 100 miles.. Then the reporter looked at the camera and said the truth of the matter is that gasoline stations have raised their prices 44 cents a gallon overnight "because they can."

Where's Obama? I thought the magic negro was going to fix all of this. I guess golf is more important to him.

That's NOTHING! After the storms came through Saturday the gas stations that still had power raised their prices as much as 80 cents a gallon overnight. After the ice storm of 2003 I bought a whole house propane generator and decided I never wanted to be without power for two weeks again. We've been on the generator since Saturday, however with a full propane tank and the heavy load of the AC, I estimate we have about 8 days of propane left, so I might have to start rationing the power for the AC and fridge to daylight hours only. Only 40 miles away here at the office we never lost power. Strange the way they tie these power grids together.
