Magnaflow just completed (Aug. 5) it's first cat back system designed specifically for the H3. See it/hear it at...http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/04trucks.asp

It's the White H3 about 2/3 down the web page.

I talked to a guy yesterday and he told me that the cat back for H3 wont be available until first of year and that was straight from magnaflow.

Since Saturday Aug. 6, I've been driving the White H3 with the cat back system designed specifically for the H3. It sounds way better than the what is captured on the soundbyte at the Magnaflow site. It's a lot throatier with a mellow lower note. It sounds a lot more powerful. Their engineers developed and tested several iterations over 5 days to tune the exhaust and minimize the drone in the interior. I also noticed a slight increase in power. Mostly noticable off the line. I am also using a K&N filter which also seems to help. I highly recommend the cat back system specifically designed for the H3. They said it should be in production in 3-4 weeks. Stay tuned, I will post photos soon. Oh yeah, it looks good, too.

Very nice looking...

I called and spoke to one of the Magnaflow engineers earlier about their product. He said a 5 to 7 HP increase was about right, enough with a drop in K&N (another 5 HP) filter to be noticeable improvement in acceleration.

I asked about the noise factor, particularly the drone I used to get with the setup I used to have in a prior car I had put flowmasters in. He said the decibal increase from most aftermarket systems is at least 10 db, but with the Magnaflow they are measuring only 2-3 db increase, and with no drone-like vibration. Also, they expect a 1-2 mpg improvement in fuel economy due to the engine not being worked as hard, with an across the board decrease in psi in most driving conditions compared to the stock system. I remember having a slight improvement in mpg in my Mustang from this mod, but it was usually offset by my increased force weight applied from my foot.

I suspect it will affect departure angles as it stands right now. I will probable have to shorten the tips. I plan on off roading this one in Joshua Tree or Death Valley as soon as the temps drop a little. Temps in Death Valley are around 115 degrees.

I'll get some more descriptive photos up soon. Stay tuned.

I asked the engineering guy at Magnaflow about the departure angle. He said they designed the system with offroaders in mind to attach just like the stock system, and that the departure angle was unchanged. I'd like to take him at his word, but the best way to know would be to see a stock and Magnaflow'ed one side by side.

Looks GREAT! And I'm sure it sounds tough too. For our rig, that will not work though.

With those tips hanging down, that exhasut will get smashed or ripped off the first trip to Moab. If Magnaflow designed this setup with the "off roader" in mind, someone needs to be canned. JK Too bad, I really like the looks of it. If the tips were removable like CORSA's exhaust for the H2, we'd have a winner for the off road H3's. Don't get me wrong about it though WhiteH3, it looks GREAT!
