Which H3 to buy ?

Hi, which year is the best for the H3 ?

I am thinking maybe 2009 is the best since it is the only year where it has the adventure package where you can lock both front and rear differentials.

How about reliability, which year is the best ?

Any thoughts ?

Thanks.

The newer the model year the better. Most of the cylinder head problems have been cleared up with the early models, although my 2005 never had that issue. I've always been a big fan of the Alphas.

Newer or lower miles and garage kept. They are all fairly decent, check underneath to see if it was beat up.

The early models 05 and 06 had 3.5 liter after the heads were expanded to 3.7 to give a little more power.

The alpha have a v8 and more zip...

Do some reasearch and take some test drives....Have fun!

If I were buying another H3, I would search for a 2008 or newer with lower mileage. If you can get an Alpha, even better. Many of the "bugs" are supposed to be worked out for 08-10 models. I have a 2007 with a 3.7 and GM did the head replacement on that under warranty (not just on the 3.5 liters). The problem was supposed to be resolved in the later part of 07. I replaced with wiper motor and ball joints. But that was done and have had no problems. There is supposed to be an issue with 07 Radiators cracking (hoping that will not happen). Its a great vehicle and I couldn't imagine not owning one now! Like the post above, check underneath, go over it really well. You will be happy with your purchase. Good luck!

I'd go for an Alpha T...but they're hard to find.
