Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

It sounds like a great truck. The 03's have held their value fairly well, but 70K is a bit steep in my book. On the other hand with it being as pristine as it sounds to be I can understand why he wants 70K for it. You are close enough to 04 prices that if you would rather have an 04, get an 04. Personally, I would rather have an 03.

Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

SSG,,THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. WHAT WOULD YOU THINK THE PRICE SHOULD BE? I THOUGHT HE WAS IN RANGE FOR THE CONDITION. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR QUITE SOME TIME.
IS THERE A REASON YOU WOULD GO FOR THE 03 MODEL? MECHANICAL ISSUES OR OTHER REASONS. I AM JUST CURIOUS.
THANKS AGAIN,,,,,,:D

BTW,,,,,GREAT WEBSITE !

Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

The interior changed in the '04 and you get both front and rear lockers. Did the owner make any modifications or have any thing added like light bar and what kind of brush guard? Is there a winch and what kind of tires are on it? Does it have an extended warranty? I think it may be a little high if it's all stock.

Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

70K is not a terrible price, when you consider the milege and its like new condition. I'd probably offer 67-68K and see if he bites.

I'd take the 03 because it is the latest updated of the "old" H1. With the 04 you have the new quieter interior, thats great but consider it takes 3 hours to remove the doghouse to service the rear of the engine. I can take my doghouse and engine cover off in 30 minutes.

The optimizer engine is a great engine, but it has its own computer I doubt anybody can even pull the codes out of that engine unless they are a HUMMER dealer. I like to be able to send my truck wherever, if I'm on a road trip and have a problem I would hate to have to rely solely on the dealer.

Lastly, I know how to work on the pre 04 trucks. For me thats a deal breaker.

Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

I agree- $70K is a little high with no add ons, but off $65 or so and see if he bites. Also check the service records because even though it only has 3,000 miles, 5 years is a long time to sit and they still should have been doing some routine maintenance on it. I wouldn't want something that has sat for 5 years and never had any fluids changed.

Re: 2003 PURCHASE QUESTION

Just my 2 cents worth. I paid $52,000 for an 2001 open top last year and spent close to $ 5000 getting it where I am comfortable going anywhere. I have a 2001 GT Mustang Convertable with 4000 miles. Had all the fluids check and all were good as the day it came from the factory. Old wives tale from the oil companies about oil going bad sitting in the gearbox. Its only money and if you can aford it and like it pull the trigger and get it. Whats 2 or 3 thousand more on top of $ 68,000. They are not making any more and it will keep its value as good as any $70,000 car you can buy. He has already took the big loss from new.I have an H1 and H2 and I am waiting on the H3t. Good Luck.
