Golf Courses

Since bebe likes this article so much, and even quoted from it for another forum member, I thought I'd take heed and follow some of the directions as stated in the article:
Quote:

THIRD: Be an advocate for your sport. Include others. Do ride alongs. Get political. Do not think you can let someone else do it for you. Get some training. Get some help. Do whatever it takes, but do it now, before YOUR gate goes up. Get a Trail Patrol or Neighborhood watch started on your trails. Advocate for responsible use; dump the dip-wads.

I think we need more golf courses with pretty trees and big lakes. Just not so big they take all my balls.

Cities need to participate more and anti up more money because golf courses ackt as nice greenways and buffers.

They can also be built in eco-friendly ways that will satisfy all.

They should be open to the piublic so all can enjoy them.

Some of the nicer courses even incorporate protected land for wildlife. I think we should build more. Hell, out East here in CO, we are getting new subdivisions every 6 months. You get new schools, banks, stores, and some golf courses. Bring em on!!!!

Sweet Idea. Adam could start wheeling on the hiking-only trails with his H2. "Trail Patrol".

Re: Golf Courses

To The Golfer
In my hand I hold a ball,
White and dimpled, rather small
Oh, how bland it does appear,
This harmless looking little sphere.
By its size I could not guess
The awesome strength it does possess;
But since I fell beneath its spell
I've wandered through the fires of Hell.
My life has not been quite the same
Since I chose to play this game.
It rules my mind for hours on end.
A fortune it has made me spend.
It has made me curse and cry.
I hate myself and want to die.
It promises a thing called "par".
If I can hit it straight and far.
To master such a tiny ball
Should not be very hard at all.
But my desires the ball refuses
And does exactly as it chooses.
It hooks and slices..dribbles..dies
Or disappears before my eyes
Often it will have a whim
To hit a tree or take a swim.
With miles of grass on which to land
It finds a tiny patch of sand.
Then has me offering up my soul
If it will just drop in the hole.
It's made me whimper like a pup,
And swear that I will give it up
And take a drink to ease my sorrow.
But "The Ball" knows... I'll be back...tomorrow

Golf courses are the biggest offenders of greening. I say bring in more shopping centers and multi-story malls! Pave over paradise and bring in the parking lots!;)
