Ok,

I have finally ordered all the parts for my AVIC-D1 install. On thing that I am curious about is the ability to use the stock XM and GPS antenna with the Pioneer XM reciever and the AVIC-D1 Navigation system. If possible, that seems like the best option. I would prefer not to have to route wire for two more antennas.

I'm sure the connectors are different. What has everyone else been doing. Thanks in advance.

they told me that I will have to put another antenna up. I'm not happy about having 3 antennae

I have been reading on other sites (http://www.xmfan.com) that you can use the factory antenna. You just need to find the xm receiver.

Does anyone know where the xm receiver is located?

You have to buy the XM receiver. The one with the Navtraffic is $330 retail, but I found it for $114 on ebay. The other one is around $100.

I don't believe you c n splice easily into this. The GPS antenna is used by the onstar system and installing SMA connectors is not for the light of heart.

When I Installed my system I used the aftermarket antennas positioned above the rear door next to the side rails. You can't really see them as they are black, like the rails and about the size of a book of matches

h3'er,

How did you get the wire from the cab to the outside of the H3? Thanks.

XM receiver is above the glove box. The current shark fin antenna used on the H3, is used for Xm signal and Onstar GPS, and the little antenna that screws into this shark fin antenna is the onstar phone antenna.
Per info I received, this antenna is supposed to be capable of being used with a nav unit. However, per the schematics and info I have found on the H3, the nav unit will have a separate antenna mounted under the top of the I/P.

h3'er, f5fstop

Thanks for the comments.

All I need now is some advise on the best way to get the gps and xm antenna out of the H3 and on the roof.

stick them on the roof above the rear door, run the wires underneth the door frame weather gasket. tuck the wire between the headliner and side mouldings( its very small).

there ya go
