H3 Fuel Filter replacement?

Dealer said it wasn't necessary to replace them on the H3. Is this true?

If I am suppose to replace it, at what interval?

The way I understand it there isn't one in the traditional sense. There's some kind of sock/filter in the gas tank before the fuel hits the pump.

Re: H3 Fuel Filter replacement?

I think all in-tank fuel pumps have a sock on them that the fuel goes through before it gets to the pump. When I replaced the pump motor on my old Chevy, I put on a new sock at the same time. It also has an external fuel filter that looks like a small pop can mounted on the inside of the frame rail. If I can remember correctly, my certified mechanic friends say ~40k miles is a good interval. I haven't looked for one on the H3 yet, but I'd be surprised if there ISN'T more than just the standard sock inside the tank, since the sock inside the tank that I replaced was not a very impressive looking filter.

Re: H3 Fuel Filter replacement?

the filter is built into the fuel pump on the H3
i just got under mine and traced the fuel lines from top to bottom
and there is no filter

i havent been inside the fuel tank of one yet so i dont know if its a strainer like on all intank fuel pumps or an internal filtering system in the pump
