GM 8 lug center caps.....

Has anyone put center caps on their stock wheels? I was thinking a stockish looking center cap might make the H2 wheels look a little better without having the giant plastic dinner plate in the middle.

Here's an example:

Says the cap has threaded inserted that screw onto the lugnuts??

Any insight or any pics if you've done it?

I see quite a few 2500's with h2 rims and their center cap, I have never had an interest to try it on the H2, nor have I seen it with on an H2 there are so few of them.

But yea I see no reason why it shouldn't work the H2 has the standard parts bin lug nuts with the threaded area.

I never realized that, well maybe the caps would pop right on. I looked up pics on some chevy truck forums and the H2 wheels actually look really good on those trucks with the GM center caps.

I think I'm going to pick up a set of 4 and see how they look.

I think you need to modify the GMC/Chevy caps to stay on the H2 rim. I ran across an thread on an 8-lug forum somewhere talking about H2 rims on a 2500...I'll see if I can find the article and post back.

UPDATE: Here's some more info on GMC caps on H2 rims

That was one of the threads i read, I'll probably just have to buy a set and see how they fit

It seems like they all 'work;' but the gap around the edge and how much you may need to trim to get a good fit seem to be the variables.

I have a set of H2 wheels on my duramax and they look really good. no trimming required just the 2500 outside threaded lugnuts to hold the cap on. The H2 wheel is a popular choice for the 2500 for 1. price, I got a set of 5 for $30 total. 2. the bs is close to what the 2500 all ready has, And the fact that it is 1 inch wider than the 2500 wheel and a inch taller. With the H2 wheel I fit 33s on a non lifted duramax with no rubbing.

nice, and they look really good on those trucks too. Do you happen to have any pics of these threaded lugs that the cap lug covers screw onto?

I pretty sure the plastic 'lug nuts' on the GM cap turn independently and actually thread onto the lugs of the wheel.

Sorry lojac I dont get on here often enough. The lug nuts are just half threaded on the outside as well as the inside so you can screw the 8 plastic caps that look like lug nuts on to the outside of the actual lugnuts. I will try and get a picture tomorrow.
