Family Victimized in Home Invasion

Seven Black men allegedly forced their way into a Gwinnett County home, tied up the residents and ransacked the place Wednesday night.

One of the victims, 19-year-old Enrique Calderon-Romero, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center to be treated. Gwinnett police said no one else was injured in the incident.

Romero and 20-year-old Salgado Eder told police they ran into two of the intruders about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, when they left work at La Frontera Mexican Restaurant on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Two armed Black males reportedly approached Romero and Eder as they drove out of the restaurant's parking lot.

The two men forced Romero and Eder out of their car and into the rear of another vehicle, police said. The gunmen made Romero and Eder disclose where they lived.

After arriving at the residence, located in the 2500 block of Waterford Park Drive, Romero and Eder said they noticed a red Hummer/H2 had followed them. They told police five other Black males got out of the Hummer and entered the house.

Along with Romero and Eder, five other family members at the home were tied up as the suspects ransacked the residence. The victims managed to free themselves after the intruders left and called police.

A Gwinnett police spokesperson said it was unclear what was taken from the home. Composite descriptions of the intruders were not immediately available.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (770) 513-5300.

I think we can lay the blame for this squarely on Jimmy Carter's doorstep, since the incident began on his Blvd. I mean, beyond Habitat for Humanity, what good has he been up to lately?

Why are criminals so stupid? drive anything but a Hummer unless you want to be ID and spotted. Another thing about this story surprised me: For decades, I have not read any newspaper crime reports which indicate the color of the persons involved, at least not in California. Even when the TV says the police is asking for eyewitness or help to find the individuals invlolved in a crime, they never mention the guy is white, black or Asian or Hispanic, green or purple. Wonder if it is only in the SF Bay area or likewise nationwide. This is not a racial remark on my part, just a technical observation and question.

Such is the world we live in and I have no complaint, its a great state and great country. We lived in San Francisco for 20 years before moving to the suburb, as a Republican and former vice chair of "Bob Dole for President" (someone must remember him, not just from the Viagra ads.), in a city with 90% leftwing population and 100% ultra leftwing political control, now in a state with 100% Liberal control of all state offices. I don't think anyone missed PRK, old joke. Whatever you say about Kalifornia or San Francisco do not bother me a bit, but you have to remember technically statewide Democrats won by only a few points, which means 51-55% of Californians voted left while 49%-45% voted right. Don't forget the 45%-49%, that is 13 to 15 million people.
