It depends on the kit. The cheap ones just stick on with adhesive backing you may or may not need to remove the gauges to install these kits. The key to a good install with the adhesive kits is a clean bonding surface. You need to take the time to properly clean all the surfaces for a good bond. When you get into the Madrea (sp?) you have to remove every gauge from every bezel and insall it in the wood trim. This kit takes several hours to install.
