Well, I guess he's going to be a goner...

I put my H2 on ebay last week and listed it for 10 days. I had 77 people watching and the top bidder won the auction for $52,100 when the auction ended at midnight last night

Turns out today the buyer couldn't secure the proper financing. Last Sunday, I received a phone call from a guy in the Cayman Islands. He said he wanted to fly into NC, pay for the car and drive it to Wilmington and have a company install a 12" lift with bigger tires.

Since the buyer flaked out, I called the guy tonight and we agreed on a 60K purchase price. We're going to use an escrow company to ensure no one gets ripped off.

When I return from a cruise over Xmas, he's going to pick up the Hummer.

At that point, I'm starting the process all over except on a new body style Suburban. I'll send it out for a duramax and put a lift kit on it when it returns.

This has been a great forum and I hate to get rid of the Hummer, it's been a fantastic vehicle but between non conducive trying to tow a 28' trailer and worrying about parts becoming harder to find, it's time to change venues.

I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Sad to see you get rid of it Mark but what was the problem on towing a 28 ft trailer especially with the diesel conversion?

It wasn't a power problem, that's for sure...lol.

The Hummer pulled pretty good but at the end of the day, it's no the same as a HD2500 or a Suburban with a 2500 chassis.

But like I said, my biggest fear is parts scarcity.

Didn't I hear this before with the old Orange Crush H2, Mark. I know how you feel though, new technology, lack of support by GM, and higher powered new 4X4s are making the H2 what my teenage grandchldren call "a classic."

You will be missed ~ happy trails.

Jim,

Thanks bud, I really will miss it. It's been a great truck but I really wanted a lifted late model suburban with a diesel.

Good luck with the sale...sorry to see you go; but a lifted 'burban with a diesel does sound sweet.

Can you still get the new 'burbans 8 lug?

You can go all 'Transformers' with that 'burban...

That's funny that you posted that... THAT pic is one of the reasons I went after a suburban. A little bigger tire and a duramax and it would be perfect.

I'll keep ya'll informed as it gets done.

I hate that you can't still order the Suburban with the 502ci.

502 would be a good choice... a duramax would be a better choice...

:D

Have you thought about an Avalanche? Same basic shape/parts, but you get a truck bed...not a 'legitimate' full-size truck bed, but bigger than a SUT.

Mark, the new Surburbans/Denalis/Escalades (body styles) don't come out til sometime next year...I think it's the spring time or fall...you're going to wait til then?

OrangeCrush 12-06-2012 04:09 AM

Re: Well, I guess he's going to be a goner...

No, won't wait... because of what it's going to cost me for truck, diesel conversion, lift, shipping, etc, etc I'm going to have to go with a 07-'11 bodystyle.

I'm 90% sure I'm going with a suburban (no avalanches, I need a 2500 chassis, not a 1500)

I did put an offer in on this truck which though large, it would be more practical.

I'm torn between the two...

I have never understood why the factory hasn't offered the diesel in the 3/4 ton Suburban.

For the same reason they never offered a diesel in the H2... cause they're idiots.

Right...only the first gen Avalanches were available in 2500 series. Plus I just read that 2013 is the last year for the Avalanche and related models.

That dually is awesome..!

Spoke with a GM factory truck rep at the Chicago auto show about this exact same thing. If GM were to make a 3/4 ton DMax burban I would be all over it. The issue is with fitting the Allison transmission into the trans tunnel, he said it would require the Suburban to sit higher which will make it harder to enter/exit (if you dont like it buy a 1/2 ton version) and the higher vehicle means higher center of gravity and being the fact that its a "passenger style" vehicle it becomes a safety issue. Now this is what I was told and Im not sure if that is really where the buck stops..... Im not sure how much this guy really knows. Obviously there is a strong demand for a diesel powered large SUV...... just look at what the P.S. Excursions are still fetching in terms of price.
