Ready to roll...
After reattaching ATF tube which pulled off during struggle to pull out the old manifold. The 02 sensor is now a little tight against the compartment wall. But no issues since I put this in about a week ago. The performance is stronger and hoping for better mileage. The engine sounds different. A little tinny. I guess thats because the 1st stage cat converter is now out. |
Re: Header install on 06 3.5
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!
What did you gain ? Do you notice an increase in power/proformance, off the line, lower RPM at highway speed ? Are you feeding into a stock muffler system or have you also changed that out, and if so to what ? What brand, where did you buy, how much $$$ ? HOW MUCH WORK, How long ??? Can a cripple like me do it ? Can i get BIG BOOBIE WOMEN to help me ? |

Definitly performs better! Goes into stock system thats why the exhaust donut was reused. Bought from Trailerpup so not sure who makes it he said he got it from teakatoys. Took me about 6 hours You need a good set of metric sockets and strong arms and hands to do it... Even if I get one more mile to the gallon it was worth it but that needs to be measured... |
Re: Header install on 06 3.5
Did you weld on a spot for the second O2 sensor?
|
Re: Header install on 06 3.5
No on mine there is only one...

Re: Header install on 06 3.5
Nice job....That is the first I've seen.
Went to the site you mentioned above and nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of that bad boy......I'd love to know if it really does make the HP gains claimed. You gonna do the PCM tune as well to augment the header? Hummer H3 Header -- $1,199.00 Available for both the 3.5L and 3.7L models, constructed of heavy gauge T304 stainless tubing and 3/8" flanges. Result in great throttle response increase as well as 20-30 horsepower. Removes the factory catalytic. Great addition to computer tuning, cat back exhaust and air intake. |
Re: Header install on 06 3.5
Trailer Pup sold it to me slighly used. For $350.00 I am the new owner. He modified his original manifold and reinstalled it. Think he said he paid $900.00 for the header new.
I have no plan for any pcm or hp tuner. Stay tuned for reports on mpg after I get a few tanks to measure that aspect. It has definitely uped the performance on the 3.5. Its peppy and lively. |

Ah ha! Maybe they sent the wrong one to pup. He had said he had two O2 sensors but the header only had one. Maybe the one for the 3.7 has two sensor locations. The guy from Teaka did say the header had the correct amount of sensor locations. The header first came out in January. It was $899 at that point. I checked again last month, with the intention of getting one, and they had upped the price to $1199. They said the price of stainless steel had gone up. :lame: |

Not certain why trailerpup sold. Some of the folks on the colorado forum have modified the stock manifold. They have gotten good results by gutting the stage 1 cat and boring out the ports to expand throughput of exhaust gas. For what I experienced it would be better to have the option to go back to stock if it failed inspection or some warrentee issue arose. |
