new roof rail, rear brakes, rear diff leak fixed

33k miles, had some warranty work done today.

Driver side roof rail was replaced several months ago. The passenger side roof rail finally cracked so I got that replaced today. When I went up to check the work on the rails, I noticed a different design. There is no rubber lining on the outside, and the design looks a little different up top. I don't like having two different designs, I feel it is noticeable enough. I'm going to call Hummer Customer Service tomorrow and ask if there is any way to get a matching part up there... Any of you guys experienced this with your rail replacements?

Rear brake noise... I had the common rear brake noise that has been posted through the forums. I thought last service visit it was fixed by some resurfacing and some tweaking by the tech.. but it only lasted about 2,500 miles. Since this was the 3rd or 4th time I've had service on this, this trip they replaced the pads and rotors with new parts under warranty. Hopefully the new parts fix the issue once and for all.

My final service was for the rear differential, it was leaking oil. They confirmed the leak, replaced the gasket, and replaced the oil.

I don't know how you guys feel, but I'm on the 50k miles warranty... I'm not looking forward to getting out of warranty...I've had more service than my Nissan and Mazda combined!

(I did get the 100k mile warranty for my head replacement...)

Just get it all done before your warranty expires! :)

I just had my rear diff leak fixed at 15k miles. And I had the steering shaft issue fixed after about 6 months of having the truck. I think the 5 speed transmission stinks but I haven't been able to get them to fix that yet. I guess I have mixed feelings about the truck's durability (maybe durability is the wrong word). We'll see how it goes in the future.

Where in PA are ya Drew? I'm in central MD.

I had all of the problems you had .. plus more .. by the time I had traded in my H3 for the H2 6 weeks ago. I traded it at 32K. I had gone through GM Customer Service with all of the earlier woes, prior to the rear dif leak. I shrugged it off to buying the H3 when it first came out .. got my '06 in August of '05, but I got it all taken care of. The exception, though, was that the rear brake groan came back. My advise is to really push to get everything done fast ... start now because your 50k will be here before you know it. Or, if you know that you're going to hold onto your H3 for years .. buy the GM max protection plan (I can't think of the real name right now). Good luck and keep us posted!

Good tip about the protection plan.. I'll have to look into it.

6Pack - I'm in Southeastern PA.. near West Chester.

I have not been able to find one current list of all issues.. I'll have to do more research to make sure everything I can find is taken care of. I know some of you guys have had more problems, but if I had to rank my issues:

Major issue - head replacement (needed a new sender / pump assembly too)

Minor issue (caught early) - diff leak

Annoyances - roof rail crack (now, different designs on each side), rear brake groan / grinding sound

Here's the fleet both the 93 Miata and 2003 350Z have really had only oil changes and regular service:

Oooh.. That was a nice ride. Do you still experience some nasty noises? The warranty is still the first option to go.
