Engine Revs-up pulling away from stop.

COUPLE OF SYMPTEMS HERE COULD BE ALL RELATED, 1St I finally replaced the Battery. Now when I pull away from a stop the engine revs up to 2k rpm and slowly moves. as if it was in 4th gear. took the ( H-2 2005 ), to auto parts to read code and it said it was shift solenoid . Took car to Trans shop for servicing and to replace this solenoid ...While there they said it was in the -Key Ignition tumbler- now 2 times I had trouble turning the key all the way back to remove the key. The Mech said it was causing a low voltage signal and that was causing the trans not to start out in low gear from a start. QUESTION Could the ignition tumbler cause a low voltage signal that could cause the trans not to down shift? resulting in starting out in high gear at start. and 3 times now when I got home from work and went to turn the car off I couldn't get the key to turn all the way back to get it out...Why? ( AND of course its intermitting) Thanks in advance. its my 1st post

Did they get any codes? Codes: P0740, P0753 , P0758 , P0785 , P1860?

Check this out: http://www.clubhummeroffroad.com/for...t=transmission

WoW, yep I went and checked the codes again and it kept saying the ignition switch....Go FIGURE: So Wellll I changed the ignition switch and so far its working..... just doesn't seem right that a switch on the ignition could not let the trans shift. MY Trans guy says that there's not enough voltage from the switch and this happens. also there's a wiring harness they could install that might fix this issue but I decided to go back original as much as possible. I found some great videos on u-tube that really helped... (good thing to cause I was almost ready to take it down when working of course and trade it in) boy that would have been a mistake. :dancingbanana: GOTTA LOVE THIS SITE..:beerchug:

Agreed...this site is a great resource for research on these trucks, but unfortunately the activity has died off; so you don't typically get a fast response to new questions.

If you're keeping your truck (and it sounds like you are) I'd HIGHLY recommend that you join clubhummeroffroad.com. It's a very active site, with many of the same members that use to contribute here on Elcova.

Glad to hear everything is working out for you...I'm with you though, doesn't seem logical that the ignition switch would/could have that effect on the tranny, weird.
