ML55 AMG doing Lion's Back
Hearing those street tires slipping & chirping while trying to grip the rock makes my tender chicken skin tighten up a bit. I don't remember any of the Hummers having that kind of drama.:D

Re: ML55 AMG doing Lion's Back
i saw that the other day.
and i await this as definitive proof that this is, in fact, far better offroad than an H2. This is perhaps the last SUV that hasn't been declared far better offroad than an H2 somewhere on the web. lol I mean, you can't NOT read this stuff. I have been searching for a spec/calculation of the H2s center of gravity, and i found this: "good luck offroading on those ridiculous "Bling Bling fiddy cent y0" baloon tyres...." That was from the moderator at http://www.automotiveforums.com/t357...he_new_h3.html on part of the reason why a VW among basically everything else is better than the H2. And it did not contain any info about center of grav. :D |

That nincompoop, cesguz, is a total tard. I'm calling BS on him. Sounds like a ZT knock-off. What the hell is "rude offroading"??? |
Re: ML55 AMG doing Lion's Back
cesguz is about 103% full of it.
jimster enters the typical, and remarkable, anti-H2 comments. I doubt he's ever even taken a good look at one, or at a Touareg, which seems to have about 8" of clearance to some parts that can't be raised by the air susp, low-profile tires, and plastic skid plates. The part you'll drag when the shoddy departure angle comes into play seems to be the muffler, and the frame is safe & secure up above the functional parts. (joke) With respect to the comments of Elk, who entered some nicely reasonable commentary, i think a Rubi can situationally outperform an H2, but i can't imagine that the Benz G could. I measured one a few weeks back while shopping w/a friend, and its lacking clearance & angles, and it doesn't look like the poor approach/departure leads to a great breakover & more resistance to getting hung up. + its TCS deactivates when yo ulock even one diff, leaving it reliant on lockers to go anywhere, which i dont' think is always ideal. But i blabber. Mostly i was thinking it would be funny if the hummer messiah visited that thread. |

I liked the brake squeal at the end. Guy was an idiot for taking that up there. First sign of wheel hop he should have went back down. |

Re: ML55 AMG doing Lion's Back
I took a G wagon in on trade, we took it out on our Hummer test course out in the ditch behind the dealership. Was one of the most disapointing vehicles I have ever drove. the door panels were paper thin and seemed very top heavy. we unloaded it at auction it was such a piece.
