Its been a while since I started a thread here.

If I'm lucky I'll have the old girl back later today. Its been at the shop for the last week and a half getting some odds and ends taken care off. And some other stuff. :shhh: Pics of the beast and its latest upgrade will soon follow.

Its back, but dark so I cant get any pics tonight. As to what I have gotten done, Control arm bushings, full alignment, ball joints, rear springs, front tie rods, fluids changed (its too cold and I'm too lazy right now). And of course, the long over due suspension lift is here and installed. I finished it off with a new set of IROK 40's, making it about 5 inches over stock now. :D

Nice! Is that a factory slantback or an aftermarket bed cover?

Well, factory slants were only available one year of production. I'll let you look up what year it was. :)

Hint - 1997 was not the year. (Therefore 97.5 isn't a factory slant.)

Carey, that looks totally sweet!! Plus, I hear the Cal-Golds were better than the factory slants. Didn't the factory slants have leak problems? I'd love to put a Cal-Gold on mine, the slant back look is probably the sweetest look for HUMMERs.

Edit - plus, the factory slants don't have a tailgate, so I think they look funny from the rear. Gotta have the tailgate with HUMMER letters or it just ain't right.

I like the California Gold alot. I dont care for the way the wagons look as much as the HMC4, but need to be able to secure whats in back, so for me the slantback is a great way to go. Its also my favorite body style. As far as leaks go, I'm sure mine probably does leak a little. Its been on there for some time and the seals have begun to shrink. The main problem with it is when it gets hot outside condensation builds up in it, then you cant see out of the windows too well. I was told some time ago that California Gold actually made the slant backs for the factory HUMMER's, so quality wise I would expect them to be nearly equal.

Good point with the fogging. Are defrosters available on any of their models?

I'm not aware of any defrosters for the Cal Gold kit. I think a couple of small vents would probably be best, the biggest reason it fogs up is because it doesnt breath.

Carey-

I agree with your topic heading. Speaking of the pics, I like them. The truck looks good with the new lift and tires. I'll have to post pics next month after I get my new lift, tires and wheels on mine...

Its been forever HUMMERDOGG. :beerchug: What route are you going with your lift and tires?

That looks awesome, Carey. Plus you can tell you actually use the truck.:clapping:

I'm sure you can find a couple of airvents. I'm thinking something that mounts on each side with scoops pointing down to keep most of the water out.

Here's something else you could mount on the roof and has a motor.

Actually, I like this one better for the roof, and it's cheaper. ALOT!

Re: Its been a while since I started a thread here.

Those are both good ideas Ken. One of these days when I've got some time on my hands I'll do something about it. For now I'm headed back out to try and find where I blew an O-ring up in my winch.
