How much would shocks cost?

How much would it cost to remove the entire air suspension system & add regular shocks?

I want to lower my hummer but was told the air suspension is not adjustable.

little over 300 bucks to do the rear suspension. you can buy the springs to replace the airbags from gmpartsdirect I believe.

So I can just have the air bags removed and add springs/shocks?
(and leave the air pump etc..?)

yep. you will have to disconnect the lines from the bag and then support the axle and cut the bags and pull them out. gm sells the springs with the rubber asborbers for the bottom of the spring. you can take the compressor out or leave it in depends on if you use it to fill your tires up or anything like that with the hook up inside for the hose. Then you will have to have the "service air suspension" comes across the bottom of the gauge cluster til you take it to a dealership to have the code removed.

Wow that actually seems pretty easy.

What would the dealer charge to remove the code? Any idea?

None the less, I greatly appreciate your reply & help!

If you don't pull the sensors, you won't get the code.

I changed my airbags out for coil springs: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=42682

The springs were $86 each through gmpartsdirect along with $24 for new isolator pads.

If you want to change shocks as well, you can get a complete set (front & rear) of Bilsteins for $330 from http://www.dmaxstore.com

Not sure on the price. I know the stealership close to me charges 75 bucks to scan and clear the codes in the computer.

Any other questions let me know!

Jesus at that rate you could buy a Aeroforce Interceptor gauge and clear them yourself and have an awesome gauge! I had duals in my GTO and loved them. I would check and clear codes just before going into emissions lol.

I changed out my air suspension with a kit I got that also had Bilstein shocks. The install was fairly easy and as far as the code goes there's a link on here somewhere that tells you how to get rid of it. That was easy too. I also totally removed the air compressor. That sucker was heavy! As for bilstein shocks I DO NOT recommend. It's like I have sponges on all four corners.

Re: How much would shocks cost?

I might as well do it.

Selling the air suspension pump & what ever else is left should pay off for the job itself..

Thanks for the input guys.

(if anyone is in the nyc area that wants to do this for me, let me know so we can arrange something)

Thanks.
