Need help getting plastic fuel door pocket off?

Just got the wife an H3 last night. I have a OEM chrome fuel door that I was going to paint black & put on the H2, but decided to just put it on hers.

How do I get the plastic pocket off? On my H2, you just twist it counterclockwise. I have twited the one on the H3 and does not move. ANy help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It does simply pop off. It helps if you squeeze in on the face of it and twist while pulling back...
Its held on by some little plastic tabs that are force activated. They go on much easier than they pull off obviously so you must apply muscle to pull off!:beerchug:

Unscrew the gas cap then get your fingers behind the plastic fuel ring and pull straight back. Don't worry you won't break it.

So is the method to just get your fingers in around the OD edge 180 degrees and just pull out?
