upgrading battery
I want to buy the best battery out there! One that can handle alot of drain when in use.
I would like to know what the rest of you all have and why? Thanks |
Re: upgrading battery
Ohh.. I know the answer to this.. But it's so simple, I'm gonna give someone else a shot at it first...

I have lots of toys installed. And I see that ppl are having probs with thier 3's being dead. I would like to have the peace of mind that I won't have the problem while out in the middle of nowhere. |
Re: upgrading battery
I also saw the yellow top for $149.00 at a local store.
I had a battery replacement last march and its been fine since. Im not running the dvd for more than 20 mins without it running, also the bad battery might have been due to running the dvd a hour a day with the fridge running also,I only have the fridge running now when truck is started.(dealer checked and said bad cell) Im going to get a yellow top when battery needs replaced or I get a winch . I measured the battery a few weeks ago when I put my underhood light in,the measurements are: 9 inches long 6 3/4 inches wide 7 inches high From what I read the base of the tray and the battery post holes would have to be modified for a optimum to fit in stock box. At the store it seems only 1 yellow top and 1 red top will fit H3 specs. |
Re: upgrading battery
Well crap 442, now you have gone and thrown me for a loop... I sure hope to heck that whatever I buy fits, I hate making mods.
Thanks for the measurments, that helps. Did you by chance get the part # for which one fits?? |
Re: upgrading battery
I haven't modified the battery cover...yet. It looks like a new cover was only about $10 should you goof up cutting. In the pictures, I have since removed the single plastic fastener holding the battery breather tube.
A bit more info on my Red Top: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...9&postcount=12 |

I didnt get the part # but they have a chart that list the size.I remember only one red or one yellow in corect size so it should be easy to get the right one:D I also saw them at sears and they have the chart on the display stand. I also noticed the red top has a longer warranty, and the yellow top works also like a marine battery for heavy loads. Post pics of install it should be a snap.:beerchug: Also the nut on the battery terminal is only loosened slightly ,dont back it off compleatly. |
Re: upgrading battery
Sears? thats good they are next door to the park.. And they back thier sh!t up.
Thanks 442. Cheers |
Re: upgrading battery
