I currently have a 1995 opentop diesel hummer.I have been looking at a wagon that is gas powered.Which motor do you guys think is better and why? What do you guys like more the open top or the wagon? From what I can tell the gas powered will have cheaper maintance.I think that it can use many standard 350 GM parts. But will cost more in fuel consumption. Is this the case?

Kelly-

I have a 95 gas, you will deffinantly have cheaper engine repair bills, as long as you have a competant mechanic and GM parts. However though you will deffinantly be paying more in gas... I get 7-10 mpg... diesil is probally better in the long run.

I would go with the Diesel. just my 2 cents... If you ran it with a biodiesel mix, could save you some $$

what is biodiesel mix?

Basically, it's a used vegetable oil that is mixed to form diesel. They say it ends up costing under $1 per gallon if you make it yourself. You can run it at 100% in your tank, or mix it with regular diesel at any ratio. You can get the oil from restaurants...just takes some time to put together a mixer and stuff...but I've heard a lot of people are looking into it dt the high gas prices right now.

Not all Biodiesel is made from used vegetable oil. In PA they are making it from SOY straight from the farms. There is another group that is making it from used vegetable oil but they are not as far along in making it for sale as the SOY developers are.

True, forgot about that one.
