Where to get warranty work done if Hummer goes under
So, I was in my local GM dealer a couple of days ago asking about them doing interval maintenance on my 08 H3. The GM dealership said they could do the interval maintenance but not warranty work. They further stated that all of the HUMMER dealers had filed a lawsuit that prevented GM dealers from doing warranty work.
To add, the closest HUMMER dealer is either 120 miles east or 230 west. Is this true? It doesn't pass my B.S. test If it is true, and HUMMER dealers close, where do I get warranty work done? |

A deal will be structured so you can get warranty work done. GM couldn't handle the lawsuits that would follow otherwise.
Remember Oldsmobile. |

Re: Where to get warranty work done if Hummer goes under
My h2 is at a chevy/pontiac dealer right now getting its 2nd trans put in it didnt fall under the warranty the first time it went out so we paid to have a new one put in with a 3 year 50k mile warranty so the one they are putting in is covered. Also last week i had a cat converter replaced under warranty.

Chevy dealer. Now your experience may not be as good as mine. We buy alot of company trucks from this dealer so that may have a bit to do with it. Also they currently have a h1 there being worked on, its a 95 and man it is ragged out. I saw it one day on the road with a big cloud of white smoke behind it. Walked up to it the other day over there and it had a busted window and had some rust.

You're lucky to have the work done in the first place. There isn't a single GM dealer near me that will touch my truck - they all tell me it's a Hummer dealer or nothing.

'lawsuit' is the dealer franchise agreement with each dealer--the same one that keeps GM from putting one hummer dealer across the street from another. it deals more specifically with sales territories but the service is included. These agreements vary from state to state.
GM currently lets cad/chev/GMC dealers handle 'disabling' warranty work on Hummers, but you're right-most don't want to touch them. IMO If/When Hummer gets sold one of two scenarios are likely for servicing: 1)the brand purchaser takes over any and all warranty obligations 2)GM allows all GM dealers to perform warranty work on Hummers. True stand-alone Hummer dealers are in the minority so it would actually work out better(more potential service centers). |

I thought the GM dealershis were required, per corporate agreement, to do the work if there wasn't a Hummer dealer in your near vicinity. |

I can imagine what the wait on parts and service (tie rods and roof rails etc) will be if Hummer goes under.
You want it when??? |
